People Flee as Rains Pound Ribfest in Cornwall Ontario JULY 23, 2016

Sometimes it feels like a place or group is cursed.

Ribfest, an erstwhile replacement for the failed Lift Off Balloon fest which stopped running under a cloud of pork juices suffered a second day of impact from brutally high temperatures and storm rains.

Saturday doesn’t look to be much better with up to 15Β mm’s of rain and thunderstorms predicted for the day.

The storm was so bad Friday night that internet service was knocked out for several Cogeco cable internet users.

Better luck next year Mr. Lucio and friends…

  2. Too funny as always, Newton.

  3. That is a good quote from the Bible Pastor. My tomato plants in pots on the balcony has yellow and brown leaves and tiny tomatoes like the size of dimes and this will be the last year we put tomatoes out to grow. Next year will be herbs and flowers only. We have very little rain and a very dry season and not worth the bother.

  4. You don’t have running water in your apartment Jules? Balcony plants need watering.
Nothing like a bible quote to explain why it’s raining at Ribfest. πŸ™‚

Furtz I think it might be biblically inspired this time. The way that area organizers behave and snub the largest audience in the region here on CFN almost begs them to be rained out πŸ™‚

  6. Furtz I have been giving the plants plenty of water and still my tomato plants have yellow and brown leaves. We are facing south and it is mighty hot up here and I can imagine the heat below in the lower apartments and homes. I will be watering the plants after when the sun goes down – they must be awful thirsty. I use a water can – no hose up here.

  7. I agree with you Jamie and they deserve what they get over how they treat you and your business. You have absolutely no idea how I feel and I have seen Cornhole go down year after year because of their mighty strange mentality and how they run things into the ground and then complain. You are the best and they know it.

Jules you might want to use a water filter. Maybe Ottawa is using higher rates of chlorine in the water?

  9. Furtz I have one of those small watering containers in plastic to water the plants and I come in about four times a day (evening) for water. My herbs are doing very well and you should see the mint – plenty of it since we make lots of salads and Lebanese foods with it. We have a few other herbs out there doing very well and only the tomatoes are like that. One beef steak and another kind.

  10. Jeeze Jamie! You must have quite the connection with the weather god.
Mark 4:32… Snub CFN and ye shall be rained out, and ye shall be compelled to do the Australian Crawl for eternity in the lake of fire!

  11. Jamie you sure gave me an idea. We filter our drinking water but it isn’t hooked up to the tap. I use one of those portable type of containers and I have a thing that I put in that has the charcoal filter. I agree with you that I think Ottawa uses a lot of fluoride. We could taste it so profound before we used to filter the water. We won’t drink straight from the tap it is that bad.

  12. Jamie when we lived in Cornhole we could taste a lot of chlorine but here in Ottawa the taste is funny and I can’t describe it. I do know that there is a lot of fluoride from what I have heard from the people here in Ottawa. There are many people who want the utility to use a lot less. Here in our building like all buildings water is recycled. YUCK!

  13. Furtz we have spotted grasshoppers on our walks in the parks and we only see this during the dry season. We haven’t spotted many caterpillars this year – only one. Something is wrong this year and there is no moisture for the plants. I watered our plants on the balcony this evening after 6 as usual and hoping that the tomatoes would grow.

  14. Jules, those grasshoppers are nothing…
Starting this weekend Environment Armageddon is calling for scattered water turning into blood with periods of frogs, biting insects and wild animals; this will be followed by increasing livestock disease and boils, and some localities can expect fiery hail later turning into locusts; extended darkness is forecast into the long weekend.

  15. There are a good number of “Pastors” out there spreading the gospel,… but Tom, what you seem to spread suggests that “Pasture” might be your calling.

  16. Job 37:1-15
β€œAt this also my heart trembles and leaps out of its place. Keep listening to the thunder of his voice and the rumbling that comes from his mouth. Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth. After it his voice roars; he thunders with his majestic voice, and he does not restrain the lightnings when He is totally pissed off.”

  17. Jamie my husband has been watering the plants since yesterday and wonders why all the brown and yellow leaves and we sure are not overwatering because I check the soil before watering and like you said it might have to do with what is in the water. We haven’t been using filtered water on the plants but for drinking. Maybe I should make a switch and see what happens.
