Montreal Man Charged After Hitting SD&G OPP Cruiser OCT 14, 2016

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE

(South Glengarry) – On October 14, 2016 at approximately 7:13am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer attempted to intercept a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The target vehicle purposely struck the police vehicle causing damage and fled the scene. The officer was not injured. At approximately 8:01am, officers located the male driver on County Road 2. The vehicle had been abandoned and a check of same revealed it had been stolen from York Region near Toronto.

Jeffrey MICHEL (21) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
– Assault with a Weapon
– Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
– Mischief Over $5000
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
– Mischief Endangering Life
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
THEFT OF TOOLS

(South Stormont) – Overnight (11-12 October 2016), a construction trailer was entered while parked at a property on Mille Roaches Road, South Stormont Township. Inside, a quantity of contractor equipment were stolen;

– RIGID generator
– JONSERED chainsaw
– DEWALT/MILWAUKEE/PASSLODE/MAKITA/STIHL power tools
An investigation continues.
