Two Ottawa Police Officers charged with unsafe storage of a firearm
(Ottawa)—Two Ottawa Police officers have been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm relating to incidents in May of 2016 while off duty in Kingston.
The Ottawa Police Service began an investigation into the matter that month. The following charges have now been laid:
Cst. Ahmad Hafizi, 39 years old, has been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, transferring a firearm without authority and obstructing a peace officer.
Cst. Christian Nungisa, 33 years old, has been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm.
Both officers were released on a promise to appear. They are scheduled to appear at the Kingston Provincial courthouse on November 24th.
The two officers remain suspended from duty.
The Ottawa Police Service Professional Standards Section has also begun an investigation into this matter.
