THEFT
(North Glengarry) – On October 14, 2016 at approximately 4:10pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the parking area of a commercial property on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that the suspect had removed a purse from a vehicle and fled on foot. The male was intercepted by police on Bishop Street a short time later and arrested. The stolen items were recovered.
Elias JOHNSTON (20) of North Glengarry Township is charged with;
– Theft Under $5000
– Fail to Comply with Conditions (3 counts – previous incidents)
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
BREAK IN – MISCHIEF
(North Dundas) – On October 16, 2016 at approximately 4:20am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a disturbance at a property on Main Street in the Village of Chesterville, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a male had forcibly entered a building and caused damage inside. Further information revealed damage had been done outside as well.
Curtis HUTT (34) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Mischief Over $5000
– Break and Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence
– Causing a Disturbance
– Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
(North Glengarry) – Overnight (October 10-11, 2016) culprit(s) entered a shed located on a property on Marcoux Road, North Glengarry Township. Inside, the following items were stolen;
– Gasoline water pump
– Poulan chainsaw, yellow, 46cc motor, 20” blade in black plastic case
– Yardworks gas grass trimmer, yellow/black
– Mastercraft metal cutter, blue/black
An investigation continues.
MISCHIEF
(South Stormont) – Overnight (October 15-16, 2016) culprit(s) broke several windows to a building at a property (Long Sault Public School) on Bethune Avenue in the Village of Long Sault, South Stormont Township.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in Stormont and Glengarry Counties intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In both stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.
– October 14, 2016 – 11:14pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 153km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (26) from Cornwall, Ontario charged accordingly.
– October 16, 2016 – 12:28am (Highway 138-North Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 134km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (62) from Cornwall, Ontario charged accordingly.
