DRUGS SEIZED

(South Dundas) – On November 5, 2016 at approximately 7:59pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Trevor GIRARD (22) and female passenger, Sorina MOLDOVAN (19), both from Windsor, Ontario were arrested and each charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on December 6, 2016.
(South Glengarry) – On November 6, 2016 at approximately 4:06pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected marihuana and cannabis resin (hash).

The male driver, Sifeddine BILACHI (28) of Montreal, Quebec and male passenger, Nacim HAMOUNI (25) of  Saint-Leonard, Quebec were arrested and each charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on December 7, 2016.

Further information also revealed that both accused were wanted by Toronto Police Service (TPS) for an incident in their jurisdiction. Both were turned over to TPS officers for processing and further investigation.
FAMILY DISPUTE

(South Dundas) – On November 5, 2016 at approximately 10:33am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on Chess Road, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation took place between an adult male and family members resulting in assaults and threats. Further information also revealed that the accused was in contravention of several conditions imposed from previous incidents.

The 29-year-old male from Merrickville, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault (2 counts)
– Utter Threats
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking (4 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.
THEFTS

(North Glengarry) – Overnight (November 4-5, 2016) – two (2) automatic garage door openers and door handle lock sets were stolen from a residence on Concession Road 3, North Glengarry Township.

An investigation continues.
(South Stormont) – Between September-November 2016 – a quantity of assorted copper plumbing material was stolen from several campsites along the Long Sault Parkway/St-Lawrence Parks Commission.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(Dundas/Glengarry) – Over the past weekend, SD&G and HSD OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in the Townships of Dundas & Glengarry intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– November 5, 2016 – 4:21pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 161km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver from Ontario charged accordingly.

– November 5, 2016 – 9:24pm (Highway 417-North Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 159km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (20) from Moncton, New Brunswick charged accordingly.

– November 7, 20161:38am (Highway 401-South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 180km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (46) from Silver Springs, Maryland charged accordingly.
