STORM RELATED CALLS FOR SERVICE – RESULTS

(SD&G) – The adverse weather received over the weekend across the United Counties resulted in several traffic related incidents. Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) and Highway Safety Division (HSD) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a total of 99 (Stormont-25, Dundas-32, Glengarry-42) calls for service consisting of collisions and vehicles in ditches/median. Minor injuries resulted in three (3) incidents.

Motorists urged to use cautions…

Today (November 21, 2016) SD&G OPP officers will be conducting vehicle removals on area roads, which resulted from the several above noted collisions. In partnership with towing operators, this may result in temporary lane closures and delays in various areas of Highway 401 throughout SD&G.

Adverse weather continues to affect our area today therefore motorists are urged to drive with care and be aware of emergency personnel tending to scenes.

Eyes on the road, reduce speeds and be cognizant of those on duty…their lives depend on it!!
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(South Stormont) – On November 19, 2016 at approximately 1:08am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at residence on Mille Roches Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her spouse resulted the male being assaulted. Further information also revealed two (2) other historical incidents from past months this year.

The 55-year-old female from South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal (3 counts)

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 13, 2016. Her name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(South Dundas) – On November 19, 2016 at approximately 3:52am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at residence on Bayview Court, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male was attempting to enter the residence of his ex-girlfriend. Damage was caused in the process. Further information also revealed that the female had been assaulted in the past by the accused.

The 37-year-old male from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
– Mischief – Domestic

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 13, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(South Dundas) – On November 20, 2016 at approximately 2:21pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at residence on Beach Avenue, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his ex-spouse resulted the female being assaulted. Damage was also caused within the home.

The 45-year-old male from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
– Mischief – Domestic

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(South Stormont) – On November 20, 2016 at approximately 5:20pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation which had occurred earlier in the day at a property on North Valley Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted the female being assaulted and threatened.

The 23-year-old male from Alfred-Plantagenet Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault – Spousal
– Uttering Threats

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 13, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
DRUGS SEIZED

(South Stormont) – On November 19, 2016 at approximately 3:05pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle for travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from a male passenger in the vehicle.

Maxime ELIE (25 – passenger) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Ossini OSCAR (25 – male driver) is charged with;

– Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed (Highway Traffic Act)

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall at later dates respectively. The noted vehicle and driver’s permit were seized in accordance to policy.
(North Stormont) – On November 19, 2016 at approximately 7:53pm, an HSD officer intercepted a vehicle for travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 417, North Stormont Township. The stop also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from the male driver.

Mohammed BOURAK (27) of Gatineau, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed (Highway Traffic Act)

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 7, 2016 in relation to the drug charge. The noted vehicle and driver’s permit were seized in accordance to policy.

UTTER THREATS

(South Dundas) – On November 18, 2016 at approximately 8:20am, SD&G OPP responded to a report of a threat incident at a property on Waddell Road, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a male youth had threatened another youth via online messages.

The 15-year-old from Cardinal, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter threats

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on December 8, 2016. His name is being withheld in accordance to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
