FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE VS PEDESTRIAN COLLISION

(South Stormont) – On November 21, 2016 at approximately 5:32pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 18, South Stormont Township (approximately 2 kilometers west of County Road 14 – Osnabruck Centre).

Investigation has indicated that a passenger vehicle was eastbound on County Road 14 when, for reasons under investigation, the driver lost control causing the vehicle to enter the south ditch striking two (2) adult male pedestrians who were assisting with a vehicle that had entered the ditch previously (separate incident). Both were transported to the hospital where one was pronounced deceased while the other is suffering from life-threatening injuries. Names are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting with the investigation. A section of County Road 18 between Rombough Road and Morgan Road remains closed to traffic with detours in place.
