MALE ARRESTED FOR THREAT TO SCHOOL
(CHAMPLAIN, ON) – On January 25, 2017 shortly after midnight, the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information in regards to a threat towards the Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI).
As a result of the investigation a 17-year-old male is charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:
– Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
The name of the young person will not be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
The school remained closed for approximately one hour this morning while the Hawkesbury OPP, assisted by the East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit, conducted a search of the premises to ensure safety of the school community.
The male youth is detained pending a Bail Hearing on January 25, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal.
