ALERT Snow Rain Ice Pellets Starting Monday Night in Cornwall Ontario FEB 6, 2017

Cornwall Ontario – Residents are waking up to a chilly -13c in Cornwall Monday morning, but things will warm up and that will bring snow, ice pellets, freezing, rain and rain by the time it’s over early Wednesday.

Tuesday should be the snow day with up to 15cm of the white stuff expected.  The snow will start late Monday.

Temperature shifts of only a degree or two can mean the difference between more of the white stuff or more of the wet stuff.

BC just experienced up to 60cm of snow over the weekend.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault

Accumulating snow and a period of freezing rain likely Tuesday.

A low pressure area will bring a significant precipitation event to Southern Ontario Tuesday. A few centimetres of snow and ice pellets are expected before changing to freezing rain Tuesday afternoon or early Tuesday evening. Freezing rain may last for an extended period before ending Tuesday night.

There is still some uncertainty as to the track of the low pressure area, which will affect how much snow, freezing rain, or rain will fall in a particular location.

Hazardous winter travelling conditions can be expected across Southern Ontario.

Environment Canada will continue to closely monitor this weather system. Warnings may be required.
