Calls for Service
Kingston Police had 116 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on June 8, 2017. Of these, 83 calls occurred in the city central area, 23 in the west end, 3 in the east end, and 1 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:
- 3 domestic calls
- 4 assault calls
- 5 harassment calls
- 1 weapons offence call
- 4 fight/disturbance calls
- 4 undesirable calls
- 1 drunk call
- 2 customer trouble calls
- 3 alarm calls
- 2 noise complaints
- 1 trouble with kids call
- 2 missing person calls
- 6 Mental Health Act calls
- 2 medical assist calls
- 6 assist citizen calls
- 1 break and enter call
- 5 theft calls
- 1 shoplifting call
- 1 theft of vehicle call
- 2 fraud calls
- 7 motor vehicle collisions
- 2 impaired driving calls
- 1 parking/vehicle complaint
- 6 driving complaints
- 7 suspicious activity calls
- 2 drug calls
There were 13 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 12 men and 1 woman, between 20 and 56 years of age, for the following: mischief, unlawfully in a dwelling, assault, forcible confinement, utter threats to cause bodily harm, utter threats to cause death, sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under 16, sexual exploitation of a young person, secretly observe person expecting privacy, possession of stolen property, breach undertaking, breach recognizance, and breach probation.

To further community awareness and improve accessibility to calls-for-police-service occurring in the community, Kingston Police has merged Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology with police calls-for-service data for user-friendly public consumption.
Victim Escapes after Night of Assaults and Threats

A 34-year-old local man if facing numerous charges after spending the night assaulting and threatening the victim.
On June 8, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m. the victim was awoken by the accused standing in her bedroom. The accused and the victim were involved in a relationship, but they did not reside together.
The two began arguing and when the accused became enraged. The victim attempted to use her phone to call family, but the accused grabbed the phone and smashed it. The victim attempted to flee the residence, but the accused pinned her down and assaulted her. Throughout the rest of the night and early morning the accused continued to traumatize the victim, with more assaults and threats that he would kill her and her family if she called them or police.
At approximately 7:00 a.m. the accused made the victim drive him to a court ordered appointment. The victim took this opportunity to escape and called family. The victim suffered minor injuries.
At approximately 9:45 p.m. the accused was located near his residence and arrested.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The accused was charged with two counts of mischief, unlawfully in a dwelling, assault, forcible confinement, utter threats to cause bodily harm, utter threats to cause death, and two counts of breach recognizance.

Man Charged with 7 Counts of Assault on Family Members

A 37-year-old local man has been arrested after an investigation revealed a history of assaults on two members of his family.
On June 5, 2017 Family and Children Services contacted Kingston Police to assist in a joint investigation involving suspected child abuse. The investigation revealed that since March 2016 the accused had assaulted his son and his wife on numerous occasions.
On June 8, 2017 the accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The accused was charged with 7 counts of assault.

Man Assaults Victim and Calls Police after She Hits Back

A 42-year-old local man was arrested after assaulting the victim and then calling police when she hit back.
On June 8, 2017 at approximately 3:45 p.m. police were called to an apartment building on Bagot Street. The victim reported the accused had assaulted her in the elevator. While taking the statement from the victim the accused called to report the victim had assaulted him.
Further investigation revealed the victim struck the accused only after he had attempted to intimidate her, assaulted her and followed her as she backed away from him.
At approximately 4:45 p.m. officers arrested the accused and transported to police headquarters where he was later released with a future court date.
The accused was charged with assault.
Man Arrested after Claiming Stolen Bicycle was His

A 29-year-old local man was arrested after telling officers a stolen bicycle belonged to him.
On June 8, 2017 at approximately 7:45 a.m. police responded to an address on Concession Street for a disturbance call. Police attended the apartment where the disturbance had allegedly occurred, and found everyone clam on arrival. While speaking with the residents, police enquired about the ownership of a mountain bike in the apartment. After the accused claimed it was his, officers determined it was stolen and he was arrested.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The accused was charged with possession of stolen property, and two counts of breach probation.
Man Facing Sexual Assault related Charges on Family Members

A 56-year-old local man is facing numerous charges after an investigation revealed historical and recent sexual assaults against family members.
On May 26, 2017 Detectives from Kingston Police Sex Assault Unit began investigating a report of historical sexual assaults. The investigation revealed that the accused sexually assaulted a female family member and years later a second female family member.
On June 8, 2017 the accused was located at his residence and arrested.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The accused was charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference with a person under 16, two counts of sexual exploitation of a young person, secretly observe person expecting privacy.
