A Weekend of Rain & Thunder in the Cornwall Ontario Area JULY 7, 2017

Cornwall Ontario –  It’s raining. It’s storming.  It’s Thundering and pouring.  In Cornwall to Morrisburg, buy one umbrella or two if you splurge.

The weekend is ruined. It’s wet as rats.  Better to snuggle inside with cats.

This is karma.  This is what happens when you don’t eat bananas.

Watch out for lightning, large hail stones, and former goth singers wandering the streets with their make up running.

The Sun will be back Monday.

4:41 PM EDT Friday 07 July 2017
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain late this afternoon and early evening. A cluster of thunderstorms near Ottawa is moving southeastward at 35 km/h.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
