Numerous property crime incidents solved – eight suspects arrested
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in support to investigating uniform officers, have investigated with the assistance of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit and the Regional Intelligence Coordinator, a series of mischief and theft incidents that occurred between February 2017 and July 2017. Numerous businesses, residential homes and vehicle windows were broken with projectiles. Several mischief and theft incidents were also reported within those months where school buses were damaged and stolen.
As a result of this investigation, the Hawkesbury Crime Unit executed three Search Warrants, solving more than twenty seven (27) property crime incidents within the Hawkesbury area, including an arson incident where an abandoned residence in St-Eugene was completely destroyed.
This investigation also resulted in solving many crimes in the Grenville, Quebec area.
Eight male youths and young adults ranging from 15 to 19 years of age were arrested and are facing a total of 90 accusations under the Criminal Code of Canada. Certain names cannot be disclosed in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

An 18-year-old young person, of Champlain Township, who was 17 years of age when some of the offences were committed, is charged with;
