Shooting homicide
(Ottawa) — On Saturday morning, the 23rd of December 2017 at approximately 3:00am, members of the Ottawa Police Service Frontline Directorate responded to the 200 block of Frechette Avenue in the city of Ottawa for a report of a male who had been shot.
On scene, Frontline officers found a male who had sustained a single gunshot wound. The male who has been identified as Keith Fitzsimmons (50 years of age) later succumbed to this injury at hospital.
The Ottawa Police Service Major Crime section has taken carriage of the file. As a result of investigation, two persons have been charged with criminal offences. One of the charged persons is a young offender. Both charged persons have made an appearance in court and have been remanded into custody.
Sebastien LAFLEUR (21 years of age) is charged with the following criminal offences:
Possession of a Weapon – Sec. 88(1) CCC
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Sec. 91(1) CCC
Uttering Threats – Sec. 264.1(1)(A) CCC
Forcible Confinement – Sec. 279(2) CCC
Careless Storage of Firearm – Sec. 86(1) CCC
Male Young Offender is charged with the following criminal offence:
First Degree Murder – Sec. 235(1) CCC
