SNOW ALERT for the Cornwall Area SATURDAY JAN 13, 2018

Cornwall Ontario – Up to 20 more centimeters of snow are expected to fall Saturday before things drop to the -20c temperature range overnight and into Sunday.

Cornwallites are waking up to a large dump of snow from Friday night.    Please stay off the roads and if you have to drive, easy does it.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Snowstorm ending this morning.

Snow, heavy at times across the St. Lawrence Valley, will continue for a few hours before ending later this morning.

The region will receive several more cm of snow this morning, bringing total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm from this snowstorm by noon.

Dangerous winter driving conditions continue, as untreated roads will be slippery both from the accumulating snow, and ice build up from the flash freeze that occurred Friday evening.

Travel conditions are expected to improve slowly after the snow ends later this morning.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
