(LEEDS, ON.) – Officers of the Grenville and Leeds Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped an impaired tractor trailer driver after a traffic collision.
On June 12, 2018 at about 10:00 PM Grenville O.P.P officers were advised of a collision involving a tractor trailer hitting a stationary occupied construction sign truck. The location was Highway 401 westbound in Augusta Township. Reports were that the driver had fled the scene leaving a passenger’s side door behind.
Leeds OPP officers located the transport and driver at westbound Mallorytown Service Centre and after further investigation 31 year old Kirandeep Singh DHALIWALof Stoney Creek was arrested. He faces charges of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm, Failing to Stop at a Collision, and after he was found to have double the legal limit of alcohol in his system- Impaired Driving.
He has a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division – Brockville on July 27, 2018 to answer to his charges.
The occupant of the sign truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation continues.
