OPP CRUISER INVOLVED IN COLLISION
Officer Charged
(ELIZABETHTOWN-KITLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 25, 2018 at approximately 7:21 p.m., an on-duty officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was traveling on County Road 46, Elizabethtown-Kitley Township. The officer was in an unmarked OPP cruiser when he collided with a vehicle towing a boat, which was travelling in the same direction and had slowed to make a turn.
There were no injuries and the vehicles involved sustained only minor damage.
Provincial Constable Joel LIRETTE, 23-years-old, was charged with Following too Closely contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) sec 158(1). The officer is a 10 month member of the OPP and is currently posted at the Leeds Detachment.
So…..Ya like I was saying, there is NO respect for traffic laws anymore and definitely NO common courtesy. Seriously? An OPP constable charged with following too close, causing an accident in a provincial cruiser?? I would love to hear his excuse for ramming a boat being towed. Almost guarantee he blames the guy towing the boat.
