Youth Stabbing @ Band shell in Lamoureux Park in Cornwall Ontario 030518

Cornwall, ON – On May 2nd, 2019 shortly after 7:00 pm, the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) responded to an aggravated assault call in the area of 100 Water Street, commonly known as the Cornwall Bandshell in Lamoureux Park.

It is alleged an altercation took place where a 16-year-old youth assaulted a 15-year-old youth using a knife. The 15-year-old victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition.

The 16-year-old male was arrested shortly thereafter and charged with the following:
• Aggravated assault
• Assault with a weapon
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Carry a concealed weapon

The youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and is being held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The CPS’ Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the investigation and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or has any information to contact Detective Constable Kilger at 613-933-5000 ext. 2452

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Gobinath Sivanathan, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on May 3rd, 2019 and charged with breach of probation for being outside his residence after consuming alcohol and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during the early morning hours on May 3rd, 2019, police located the intoxicated man in breach of his conditions. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 4th, 2019.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 2nd, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged on April 30th, 2019, the youth assaulted another youth who was known to him and police were contacted to investigate. On May 2nd, 2019, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
