Busy Holiday Week Round Up for the SD&G #OPP 080619

The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 295 calls for service from Friday August 2, 2019 to Tuesday August 6, 2019.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

–             23 motor vehicle collision

–             32 calls for Police assistance

–             51 – 911 calls

–             36 traffic complaints

–             17 traffic hazards

–             15 traffic enforcement occurrences

–             4 domestic disputes

–             5 thefts

–             10 suspicious activity call

–              3 family disputes            

–               4 assault calls

–             5 mental health calls

–             2 community service calls

–             9 alarms

–             1 landlord tenant dispute

–             3 animal complaints

–              5 liquor licence calls

–             1 threat call

–             3 fraud calls

–             3 mischief calls

–             1 missing person call

–             5 ride occurrences

–             1 drug related call

–             1 neighbour disputes

–             6 fire calls

–             3 break and enters

–             2 unwanted person calls

BREAK IN

(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) On August 3, 2019 at approximately 4:36pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Joseph Street in North Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that sometime during the past several days culprit(s) entered the residence and removed various power tools and hand tools. An Investigation continues.

STOLEN CAR

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On August 3, 2019 at approximately 5:24pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a car being taken from the street on Marlborough Road in Maxville, Ontario. Investigation indicated that sometime in the previous hours a light blue 2008 Chrysler 300 with Ontario plate (BEMW 438) was removed. An investigation continues.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – On August 5, 2019 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and their driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– August 5, 2019 – 9:21am (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 171km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) Male driver from Quebec.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On August 5, 2019 at approximately 12:33am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on South Service Road, South Glengarry Township.

Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol and resisted arrest by officers.

Evelyn LINDHORST (age 67) of South Glengarry, Ontario, was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 22, 2019.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) – On August 5, 2019 at approximately 2:10am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Anderson Road, South Stormont Township.

Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Cameron KENNEDY (age 25) of South Stormont, Ontario, was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 29, 2019.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) – On August 5, 2019 at approximately 7:19pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint and a report that the vehicle had been involved in a single vehicle collision on County Road 2, South Stormont Township.

SD&G OPP located the vehicle and driver with the Investigation revealing that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Michael MCCOY (age 58) of Cornwall, Ontario, was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Fail to remain (Highway Traffic Act)

– Fail to report damage to property on highway (HTA)

– Fail to report accident (HTA)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 22, 2019.

MAN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES

(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) – On August 6, 2019 at approximately 2:35a.m., Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol located a vehicle that had been involved in an earlier interaction with the Ottawa Police, in the City of Ottawa.

The lone male in the vehicle attempted to flee causing damage to one OPP vehicle. The vehicle continued on and SD&G OPP officers located the driver at a location near his residence.

As a result of the investigation, Jessie SHARKO , 32 year old from North Dundas, Ontario is facing the following Criminal Code charges:

–             Assault peace officer with a Weapon

–             Dangerous Operation of A Motor Vehicle

–             Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by drug

–             Flight from Peace Officer

The accused is being held in police custody for a bail hearing to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
