NOVEMBER 10, 2024 – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Ottawa resident with impaired driving after observing the vehicle unable to maintain its position on the road.
Shortly after midnight on November 10, OPP observed the vehicle driving erratically on Highway 417 West near Lees Avenue. During the traffic stop, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver. An approved screening device was used and the individual was transported to the police detachment for further testing. The driver registered a blood alcohol level in excess of twice the legal limit.
As a result, Telesphore NSENGIYUMVA, aged 60, was charged with:
- Driving under the influence – Blood alcohol level of 80 mg and above
- Impaired Driving – Alcohol and Drugs
Nsengiyumva is due to appear in court in December
