Cornwall ON – It was frosty Wednesday morning as I pulled into the Ramada Inn to attend the Budget Update from our MP to a group from the Chamber of Commerce here in Cornwall Ontario.
The Chamber sponsored the event and offered free breakfast so I expected a bigger crowd.

The concept as explained by our MP Guy Lauzon was that he was soliciting feedback and suggestions to take back to cabinet and in particular Minister Flaherty.

If I understood the MP’s ramblings somehow by giving further Tax cuts to corporations and cutting the deficits we’ll be creating new jobs for Canadians. The cutting of deficits of course would mean less spending and most likely cuts like what happened to the very popular Home Reno tax credit program.
And you’re reading it here first! After nearly two years of refusing to be interviewed by myself and telling our reporters that as long as they worked for us he wouldn’t give them interviews, and refusing to post notices on holidays to our viewers, even when offered so for Free, Mr. Lauzon finally answered a question! I’m sure he’s well and survived and hopefully this will happen again soon.

It wasn’t much of an informative morning. I’m not sure if will be productive. I’m not sure of anything really other than the challenges we in small business face each and every day while certain politicians suck back their pensions, salaries, honorariums, and other perks. The busiest person in the room that morning seemed to be Eric Duncan, Mr. Lauzon’s assistant and Mayor of North Dundas.
Missing was Chamber President Rick Shaver who probably was busy writing personalized letters to members of the Chamber….
I’ll give the final words to our mayor Bob Kilger who was gracious enough to give me some of his time after the event.
