When the highest court of the land refuses to hear the case of Howard Galganov and Jean-Serge Brisson who wish to advertise signs in the language of their choice, then you can hedge your bets that democracy is dead in our beloved Canada.
If courts in Canada at all levels refuse to grant to private businessmen the opportunity of expressing themselves as is supposedly guaranteed under Canada’s Charter of Right’s and Freedoms under Section 2b, then there is a problem, a very BIG problem. But I digress, it will be an even bigger problem if us, as taxpayers and concerned Canadian citizens, do nothing at all about these types of subjects.
What is even more bold and more concerning, is that currently in Russel Township there are agencies who are flatly ignoring the By-Law that seeks to have businesses advertise in both English and French. As CFN has already reported on this, I feel it would be a waste of time and print as to repeat the agencies in question and their reasoning behind the concept to ignore a By-Law that ALL businesses should abide by to begin with.
What have we got here? Well, we have a two tier system that allows certain organizations to post signs in the language of their choice and apparently all others left to follow the laws of the land.
This situation folks is not a democratic ideal. Two tier systems are the brainchilds and the results of totalitarian states that supposedly were left to the dustbin of history to quote Trotsky. This sort of nonsense was supposed to have been left behind during the last century. But like some grandiose, dark Pheonix, this concept of the caste system has been reborn in, of all places, ‘Our’ freedom loving Canada.
Galganov is correct in his assertion when he states that this isn’t about a language issue but that the issue of language is but a symptom of something larger. I would add that this something larger is but the concept that governments can dictate at their discretion what is best for its’ citizens. But do we not elect our governments? Or have they become our vanguard; willy-nilly deciding what is in our best interests? This most recent decision by the Canadian Supreme Court not to hear Galganov and Brisson’s case tells us that indeed the above has become the new norm.
No worry folks; you need not think for yourselves as Big Government will do all the thinking for you.
My newest Letter to the Editor is not set out to insult nor insinuate anything to anyone nor any group but should be viewed as a wake up call to those who love the concept of democracy. I am writing this today to help people understand what is occuring and the seemingly powerless affects of our courts to do anything about a subject so innocent as the freedom for business owners to advertise in the language(s) of their choice.
If our courts cannot do the right thing in such a simplistic issue then how are they to decide on other issues such as euthanasia?
Not only has my faith in all levels of the Canadian court system been impacted by all of this but also what defines our very concept of what we believe democracy to be.
When one group of people have access to the best jobs, political offices and are permitted to break laws (such as what is occuring in Russel today) then we simply no longer have a society that lives by the democratic ideal.
And what is even worse then the idea above, is that today we have language laws in both Ontario and Quebec that permit linguistic discrimination; both the artificial restricting of one and the propping up of another certain language to the negative effects of all others concerned.
Democracy is dead in Canada.

Simon, I was being polite. Cleaning things up if you will. It really had nothing to do with vacuums at all.
Of all the problems going on in Quebec from near financial crisis to corruption why is the government more concerned of language laws and their attempt to strengthen the LANGUAGE POLICE:

Ken….Let me say this,
As for my life, I am doing very well for myself thank-you…..probably better then you could ever think of doing for yourself. With the amount of people I know and the many friends I have….your opinion mean nothing to me. **smile** Don’t concern yourself about my bad character….keep focused on the war on french…….ca -vas tresor?
If you are doing so well dear, why all the bitterness? Happy people don’t spend as much time as you being so miserable. just sayin’.
ON December 13, 2012 at 9:35 am Highlander asked,
“Of all the problems going on in Quebec from near financial crisis to corruption why is the government more concerned of language laws and their attempt to strengthen the LANGUAGE POLICE:”
Now HIghlander. I realize this is a retorical question but, I am sure you ARE AWARE that, despite them demanding equal (and better in many cases) respect and accommodation for the French cuslture and language in every squarre inch of Canada they, (the French /powers that be within the “province” of Quebec) are hell bent on doing away with the English language in both the province of Quebec along with a further draem of reducing it to second class status in ALL of Canada.
They are like spoiled children that MUST be put in their place and shown that THEY CANNOT HAVE EVERYTHING THEY WANT.
@Stella
quote: and the many friends I have
I hope they are not all like you.
Dear Moderator,
Can you remind some of our listers the importance of staying on the subject matter and maintaining some level of decorum. I’m noticing (myself included) that we’re too often degenerating into name calling and the like.
There is something else too and I would like to point it out. Many of us are coming out on here who are struggling to get our point across on the issues of fair hiring practices both within/without government circles and the like. Of course, there is also the issue of freedom of choice to post whatever language one wishes to on their signs and the like.
For many of us, these are issues affecting us so profoundly that most of us have been directly or indirectly damaged by these unfair policies. These are REAL issues harming REAL people and more often than not those on the other side of this debate seem far too insensitive to these issues. THEY are not for instance, being artificially forced out of their hometowns due to linguistic discrimination. I don’t hear anything about Ed, Stella, John or any of their cohorts having lost out on career advancement, nor been impacted by job cutbacks, or having difficulty finding work even to the point of having to leave their communities due to this crap. Far too often, especially in Stella’s case, we’re drawn into name calling by her one to two sentence ‘call-to-arm’ insults that infuriate those who are directly impacted by all of this.
Let’s take a close examination of what I am refering to. Stella posted today,
“Ken….Let me say this,
As for my life, I am doing very well for myself thank-you…..probably better then you could ever think of doing for yourself. With the amount of people I know and the many friends I have….your opinion mean nothing to me. **smile** Don’t concern yourself about my bad character….keep focused on the war on french…….ca -vas tresor?”
What good is the above statement on either side of the argument. As you can clearly see, Stella is not arguing for or against anything on any issue but is simply chastising Ken for something or another. This whole immature ranting/ravings are also almost always concluded with the infamous: smile, ‘s’, **smile** or some other variation of it with one clear intent. And that is to elicit a negative response from us with the intention of derailing the subject matter. Which is, I might add, far too often successful in it’s bidding.
Why is someone permitted to keep posting this type of rant whenever it is clearly not doing anybody any good and doesn’t build upon the subject matter in question?
I thank my lucky stars everyday that we have CFN as a voice for our concerns in an otherwise lonely wilderness. However, I believe there are those like Stella who only use this forum as a means to cause trouble and divide. She herself from time to time has admitted that she sees all of this as a form of entertainment. For most of us however, this is the farthest thing from entertainment that is absolutely possible.
Thanks,
Cory
Hahahaha ken…you are funny manager. Actually, if you really knew me you would be shocked. What you see here is not I….nope not even close.
Let me explain: French people are loving, kind, sincere and caring folks, they love their country and what it stands for. They dislike trouble and troublemakers who want to destroy and seperate a nation. You see….there are ways of doing things which you, as a manager should know.
You got a problem….follow procedures and go through the proper channels….correct? Picketing, barging in uninvited at meetings and giving out pamphlets on how to eliminate a culture sound proper to you? (supposing the pamphlets were against your employer) As a manager would you tolerate or accept this behaviour? I will answer for you…NOT ACCEPTABLE.
This gang should go about their business and not try to get the entire country involved. Like I said before, the FLA which has very few members from Cornwall where this originated, needed the support of the right wing freedom fghters. The right wing freedom fighters goal is to eliminate french and separate a peaceful nation. Sickening is what it is.
So manager, the point is……let Quebec deal with their own problems. Funny in one breath the freedom fighters are saying…”GET RID OF QUEBEC” “LET THEM GO” yet the group from Ontario is seeking Quebec’s help…….too funny!!!!
Dear Moderator,
Could you please eliminate the name calling that has been directed to the french people that have been coming to this site. As you know we have been called every name in the book, to the point that many did leave and never came back.
I know you are a busy man, but perhaps when you have time, you could look in the archives…..they don’t lie.
Cory has many times incited and made derogatory comments directed to me? Why would that be acceptable for him and no one else? …the archives don’t lie.
If we were treated fairly and respectfully and not ridiculed, I am sure we could and would comply.
Respectfully…stellabystarlight
Amazing……cory posted my reply to ken…..but didn’t post what ken said to me. That is what I mean by “he is too focused on what I say”
When someone insults another…….the normal reaction is to reply……Ca-vas? Tu comprends maintenant?
I keep asking everyone to only address each other by their user names. It adds stress and time to the job of moderation here and slows down the release of comments….
@ Stella. Don’t worry about it. There’s all kinds of poo-flinging around here. It comes with the territory. 🙂
Are insults only allowed by one side? It seems there is just as much given as is gotten. Funny people are offended when they dish it out so well.
Stella, your latest posts have just proven again what I just highlighted. You just posted a total of 3 times, not adding anything of substance to the argument; only personal attacks to 2 of us here. That would be Ken and I.
Your palate reflects the sweetness of heated argumentative desserts but the main course of what you have to say negates the needed good calories of meat and potatoes… Do you understand this metaphor? In other words, too much emotion and not enough good quality detective work goes into your postings, Stella.
How much time did you take in personal reflection in what I had to say about how you post? There is a legitimate argument here that you still haven’t responded to Bella-B’s question regarding signs and an LTE in response to mine. Why is this the case? Are these things too much to ask of you, Stella?
You’re absolutely correct Stella on your allegations that I have been stern to you to say the least. Yes, indeed the archives don’t lie. I would even go so far as to say that I’ve been rude, mean and then some to you. However everything that I’ve said has always been in respective response to something you have alledged. As one of my favourite characters from a Canadian comedy hit television series has stated before, “When you keep getting pelted with shit balls – you get a shit bat!
I see a repetitive notion here. Cory has been rude to Stella, Highlander has been rude to Stella, Bella-B has been rude to Stella. James has been rude to Stella, etc…. Stella, have you ever asked yourself why, in these blogs, you are most often the centre of negative attention? I think you need to reflect a bit on what I’m saying to you. You strike out always yet when people defend themselves or strike back – you cry that you have been victimized.
I lost the ability to get ‘worked up’ or angry when responding to your posts months ago, Stella. Nowadays, I only respond to them to try and put to rest the negativity you spout to the readers of CFN and how you try to make Howard Galganov, CLF and LFA look bad. I don’t think this is fair by any standards.
You see though, Stella. One can debate with someone (like I am doing here with you) without the put downs, the snide **smile** or ‘s’ or otherwise.
Seeing is you haven’t answered the questions put forward by Bella-B and myself, Stella, I do have a favour and one other question for you this evening.
Could you tell the good readers and myself of CFN why in the concluding sentences of your postings you add that **smile** component? What is the purpose of that.
I hope this posting finds you in a compassionate mood,
Kind Regards,
Cory
I sincerely hope
@ Stella “French people are loving, kind, sincere and caring folks, they love their country and what it stands for.:
Fine, I know French people who completely fit that character but there is one more trait that those I know have that not all French people have and that is ” understanding”. You see the ones I know are okay with me not being able to speak French fluently. I honestly don’t believe we would be in this mess if all French people would be more accepting instead of so demanding. We don’t know the circumstances as to why some are bilingual and some are not. Some try and are not successful. Some are born into French families and some never have the chance.
@concerned citizen 2
PS Alexandria is getting a nice new ETHNOCENTRIC Franco flag, in Highland Park no less…Sounds like a Scottish park to me, just sayin…
Not surprised, mentioned before how Alexandria has changed…
See how long it takes them to change the name “Highland Park” Obviously that’s not going to sit well under the Franco flag.
Next on the agenda for Alexandria and North Glengarry. Forced bilingual signage by-law and then it will be South Glengarry.
Just wondering .”Glengarry Highland Games” will it have to change it’s name?
@Stella,
Stella you do twist things to create your own agenda.
Neither CLF, Galganov nor any of the supporters are trying to eradicate the French language, or the Culture as you would like your supporters to believe. Many of us have French Canadian friends, relatives, business associates and to even suggest that we would want to destroy those relationships is asinine.
Try and understand that being French with a French name like
Ms. LeCompte. together with “mandatory bilingualism, currently and for the past thirty years has given you, and the distinct society, a very unfair advantage in the workplace.
You are supported with government funds for your many organisations that protect the use of French “where numbers warrant” in the workplace, always very subjective. Moreover for some inexplicable reason you are given a bonus for being born with your French language. No such perks are available for Anglophones.
The FLSA is reverted to in any dispute in Cornwall where there is clear dicrimination against Anglophones, and no better example than Cory Cameron.
Get it straight Stella no one is trying to destroy you, your French language or your culture. It’s up to you to preserve it just like all the other ethnics do right across this country. Use it or lose it, and stop trying to force it on everyone right across this country.
We are attacking the insidious and clandestine use of mandatory bilingualism, to promote Francophones in the workplace, in many instances regardless of competence but with emphasis on being French.
This I know from personal experience, having seen many Anglophones released (to use a nice word) from their jobs and replaced by Francophones, and I repeat, regardless of competence simply because they are Anglophone.
End mandatory bilingualism and you lose the only advantage you have. You know that, and so do we.

“The right wing freedom fighters goal is to eliminate french and separate a peaceful nation”
-stating eliminating french is spreading hate propaganda.
There you are again claiming that groups fighting for equity are separating the country when the separatist of Quebec are the only trying to do that.
Why are you not blaming the separatists ?
Rather then a peaceful group advocating for equity and fair hiring practices.
It seems that your hate mongering should be directed at the separatists ,not groups advocating for fairness.
Gee…..I will need at least three days to respond to these wonderful post **smile**
Re: Rosie’s post ON December 13, 2012 at 7:08 pm.
Well said Rosie. And, so true. My mother (a very proud French Canadian woman) could never understand why “some” in her family were nasty and showed disrespect (in a very snide “laugh at you to your face” type of way) towards the English. A VERY French (not all) kinda trait.
Carry on Rosie. Enjoying your input 🙂
@Ken RE: December 13, 2012 at 8:05 pm POST
Yet another well worded, straight from the hip statement of both fact and point of order Ken.
In the grove … Yes you are…
I will start with cory….it is his page **smile**
Like I said before c, just don’t focus on my post…..my post was a response to you and Kenny. First of all…..don’t read my post, no one is forcing you and besides who are you to tell anyone how they should post…..if it’s too much emotion for you…..DON’T READ THEM…..tu comprends? Not complicate!!!
Besides…..who the h#ll are you to tell anyone who to respond to and how. Perhaps if you would mind your business, I wouldn’t have to respond to you.
You only haven’t been stern to me…the archives don’t lie. When you don’t like what you read.you go for the jugular with everyone.
Know what cory…..I really don’t care what anyone thinks of me….as for rudeness it’s expected. Trust me I never…never never questioned why people are rude to me……I said before and will say it again hoping it sinks in this time……I DON’T CARE. your opinion means nothing to me……. I brought that up in my post to the moderator, not as a complaint, it was in reply to your letter to show how one sided your letter to the moderator was. ca-vas?
Give people more credit….they can see for themselves and know what the g, LFA and CLF’s agenda is all about.
As for the smile…do you not put the smile icon when posting…..same thing **smile**
On a more compassionate note, I am truly not a witch…..lol I have something to tell and ask you. One evening I said to myself, just let him be, don’t respond…..lo and behold, you got real ignorant that same night…..so guess what? I am not a doormat that you could wipe your feet on. I am asking you to make my Christmas wish come true…..be civil.
To one and all…
Merry Noel…

Shaking my head…………
Stella,
I just don’t understand it. I do feel that your response to me listed above isn’t warranted. It is full of hatred – this much is obvious. I am honestly trying to understand why you do what you do and specifically to me. Take a look below:
“no one is forcing you and besides who are you to tell anyone how they should post…..if it’s too much emotion for you…..DON’T READ THEM…..tu comprends? Not complicate!!!
“Besides…..who the h#ll are you to tell anyone who to respond to and how. Perhaps if you would mind your business, I wouldn’t have to respond to you.”
“You only haven’t been stern to me…the archives don’t lie. When you don’t like what you read.you go for the jugular with everyone.”
“Know what cory…..I really don’t care what anyone thinks of me….as for rudeness it’s expected. Trust me I never…never never questioned why people are rude to me……I said before and will say it again hoping it sinks in this time……I DON’T CARE. your opinion means nothing to me…….”
“As for the smile…do you not put the smile icon when posting…..same thing **smile**”
“On a more compassionate note, I am truly not a witch…..lol I have something to tell and ask you. One evening I said to myself, just let him be, don’t respond…..lo and behold, you got real ignorant that same night…..so guess what?”
“I am not a doormat that you could wipe your feet on. I am asking you to make my Christmas wish come true…..be civil.”
All of the quotes listed above were in response to my civil message to you, Stella. I don’t think that you like to hear the truth minus the emotions attached. I felt it necessary to show you again some of the things that you typed just to see if you yourself realized that you embody and solidify the very thing you speak out against. (That is, everything you said in your last quote).
If you don’t care what I write then why respond at all? I think these are very simplistic questions that warrant a response as to their reasoning. As we can see, whenever someone writes a new letter to the editor often times you are the first to get the ball rolling.
I would like to repeat again what you wrote:
“Know what cory…..I really don’t care what anyone thinks of me….as for rudeness it’s expected. Trust me I never…never never questioned why people are rude to me……I said before and will say it again hoping it sinks in this time……I DON’T CARE. your opinion means nothing to me…….”
I don’t agree with you when you say that rudeness should be expected. Why have you grown accustomed to people being rude to you? That isn’t normal, Stella. It kind of boggles my mind to read that comment from you. Stella, if my opinion means nothing to you, then why respond at all to me? Moreover, why repeat yourself over and over and over again the idea that you don’t care? It seems to me that the only person that left that needs convincing that you, “don’t care” is you yourself. This seems bizarre? Does anyone else see the strangeness in this? Highlander, Ed, anyone see this as being odd?
Like I said Stella, the notion of being emotionally impacted by your rantings stopped months ago. It is the sociologist in me now who is fascinated with your make-up. I am trying to understand what it is that is making you so angry. This statement you cannot disregard. The proof is in your paragraphs which I might add, is totally offbeat as to your writing style. As most can attest to, normally you make a few infuriating sentences that puts everyone at odds and on the defensive. It’s quite unlike you this time around, though.
I don’t know guys. How do you feel about Stella’s response to my above message? Did my above message warrant this hatred filled response to me? I may be wrong but I don’t think I deserved this scathing response. I truly thought I had made a breakthrough this time around.
Stella, you also wrote:
“I have something to tell and ask you. One evening I said to myself, just let him be, don’t respond…..lo and behold, you got real ignorant that same night.”
Yes I did. Stella, it seems that the only time you respond to messages is if people are somehow rude to you. I can prove this as well. When very straightforward questions are put to you you seem to dance around them and then issue questions of your own to the very same person who just asked one of you.
Poor Bella-B has been asking the same question for a month now and still you haven’t responded. I am still waiting as well for an academic response to my latest LTE having to do with the recent Supreme Court decision in Howard and Jean Serge’s case.
I’ll end this message with a little secret into my psyche. I ask not these things of you to put you on the spot, nor to embarass you if you are wrong or even as a battle of words. I’m just trying to determine if why you feel the way you do and think the way you do has something to do with tribalism.
That’s all,
No harm intented,
Cory

I will repeat the questions:
“The right wing freedom fighters goal is to eliminate french and separate a peaceful nation”
“There you are again claiming that groups fighting for equity are separating the country when the separatist of Quebec are ones the only trying to do that!”
-Why are you not blaming the separatists ?
Rather then a peaceful group advocating for equity and fair hiring practices.
So why not direct your foulness and hate mongering to the true group trying to separate the country -THE SEPARATISTS.
So Stella how is it that you do not direct your energy at the separatists who are truly trying to separate the country as you have said this is why you are on here?
Or is that really not your pupose?
So people why is Stella not fighting the separatists since they are the ones trying to separate the country? -she advised all here that is why she dislikes LANGUAGE FAIRNESS FOR ALL.
So really its not about trying to prevent separating the country but preserving those privileges.
We are all equal under God ,but not under Canadian law.
Cory, Cory, Cory… You MUST take your own advice. I know it’s tough. I know how you feal as i feel the same when it comes to this topic. Many of us are directly or have loved ones who are directly affected and want people to UNDERSTAND how stupid these policy’s are and so on. But, like you have said (and i have said, and yes… Others have said) before. There is no use trying to reason with Light Bright. She is only going to frustrate the hell out of you with either some rude response or worse yet something that is SO COUNTER to normal thinking that it just makes one shake their head in wonder. These peopel like her and good ol Pierre truly believe things like bill 101 is completely OK and does not hurt others they also believe that THEY pay just as much into the Canadian pot of tax revenue as the majority English do. I have had many debates with these types of folk about this and no matter how many facts and figured or how much reasoning you throw at them they will still come out in the end and competely drivfe you around the bend by saying, nope the sky is green when you just spent a bunch of time proving that could not be the case.
Here, how about this.
— It seems to make them nervous. —
Let’s “bring back democracy” and prove that it is NOT dead in Canada. Let’s decide on a strategic date for the spring rally 😉
The — WAKE UP Canada — lets put an end to forced bilingualism in Canada. rally…
The — WE ARE NO LONGER GOING to accept it — AND — the fact that it is our majority tax dollars going towards paying for it.
Cory and highlander, you deserve stella’s mocking, because you never fail to swallow her bait. You validate her BS by analyzing her every silly word, seeking her answers to your questions as if she were a sage, wondering why she uses this or that emoticon. You give her undeserved star treatment and then complain why she treats you with disdain.

Incredible, folks!
Good morning Timmins followers,
For those of you who I have spoken to over these last few weeks about the ongoing language right’s battles unfolding before our very eyes, I would like to make you aware of some articles here on CFN and abroad.
A simple search of the following here on CFN of Cory Cameron, Eric Little, Language Fairness for All, Howard Galganov, South Stormont and South Glengarry will give you a plethora of material in which to understand what we are dealing with.
