SNOW ALERT – Winter to Hit Cornwall Area Hard Monday Night into Tuesday DECEMBER 12, 2017

Cornwall Ontario – Here comes the snow!  Expect as many as 20cm of snowfall between Monday night and Wednesday morning as temps stay cold with a high tonight of only -10c before the snow really picks up.

Wednesday and Thursday will see lows of near -20c!   Dress warm, drive safe, and please remember that pets get cold too!

Expect poor road conditions and too many morons who don’t know how to drive in the snow.

Temperatures will warm up by the weekend, but another big blast of snow is expected for Saturday and Sunday.

  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Widespread accumulating snow likely tonight and Tuesday.

Snow associated with an Alberta Clipper forecast to cross Eastern Ontario. Snow is expected to begin tonight and taper off Tuesday night. A general snowfall of 10 to 15 cm appears likely at this time by Tuesday evening.

Although localized slightly higher amounts are quite possible, this snowfall event will stretch over a 24 to 36 hour period. Latest indications show that the snowfall warning threshold of 15 cm per 12 hours is not expected to be reached.

The snow will slowly taper off to flurries Tuesday night.

Poor winter driving conditions are expected. Untreated roads may become snow covered and slippery.

  1. We live in Canada. It snows. Get used to it. This isn’t a new phenomenon.

  2. Some years ago back in the mid 90s era I was walking on Brookdale Avenue with my son who was a teenager at that time. It was at Christmas time and loaded with snow. I couldn’t tell the ditch from the sidewalk and fell into the ditch back then and my son on the sidewalk roaring with laughter and it was -45°C and I was frozen stiff. I went into IGA back then looking like a snowman.

It snowed a great deal overnight here in Ottawa and the plows were out all night and one plow went by and shook the building like an earthquake and hubby woke up at 2 a.m. in a not so good a mood. That sure rattled his cage. LOL LOL. My son went out to Tim Hortons early this morning and he said the drivers couldn’t tell one area of the road from the other and mighty slippery and he had to honk.
