No Prorogue! Rally in Ottawa for Saturday January 23, 2010 – Will you be there Cornwall Ontario?

NDP Candidate for SD&SG Darlene Jalbert will be attending the Rally; Saturday January 23, in Ottawa.

She’ll be making the journey to Parliament Hill from Cornwall Ontario as will many area residents.

There are over 200,000 people signed up for the facebook page against proroguing.  Meanwhile Conservative MP Helena Guergis suggests that “people are pleased with prorogation”

“I am familiar with that, but that’s certainly not what I’ve heard when they (people) come into my constituency office and we have a conversation about taking a step back and recalibrating and taking a look at the global economic crisis,” said Guergis. “It is important that we take a step back and take a look at the agenda and make sure we are on the right track.”

Instead of outrage, Guergis said people are “pleased” with the shutdown.

“It’s a great opportunity to further consult with Canadians,” she said. “They are pleased with the direction of the government and the Economic Action Plan and they are pleased we are taking a step back.”

Guergis said “things have changed very quickly since the last election” and reiterated “it’s important to take a step back and make sure we are on the right track.”

  1. MP Helena Guergis should get out of her office every now and then. The only people who would visit her office would be stanch conservatives. This is a case where the choir comes to the preacher. The only reason a supporter of one of the other parties or even a non-aligned voter would visit her office would be to break wind.

  2. “It’s important to take a step back,” says Helena Guergis with seeming innocence. With the Harperites that means back to 1984–George Orwell’s 1984, where the party line is expressed in Newspeak dictated by the Ministry of Truth. Looks as if Ms. Guergis’s reading hasn’t progressed much beyond Mary Poppins.

  3. Old farts know a lot about breaking wind…

  4. Sorry I agree with Harper

  5. I wonder about Darlene Jalbert.
She had to be informed by the media after parliament was prorogued. I would expect her to know immediately what is going on in Ottawa. I voted for her last time. It’s her job to be informed, and to have an an informed opinion when the media asked her a question in regards to daily operations of parliament. We may need to find someone with passion to replace her.
I think we have to make the nomination process more visible when nomination meetings take place. I tried to join the local NDP, however, there was nothing local on the internet. I was forwarded to Toronto.
To keep someone in, do we keep others out?

  7. admin, lol. I like your humour.
However, it is a popularity contest. Good looking people do have more opportunity. Studies have proven it.

The majority of wealthy people agree with Harper. After all, their main objective is to make the wealthy wealthier. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know it is the middle class in our society that pays for bulk of expenses incurred by government.

willie if the voters of Canada count then your statement is incorrect. According to the last Federal election numbers the majority of Canadians disagree with Stephen Harper and his government.

  10. admin: Guergis photogenic? If you go for the Harper glazed look

  11. Yes admin, thats why he’s running the country!

Now now PJR; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I admit MS Guergis is no Rona Ambrose, but could you see a Sheila Copps type in a Harper team role?
