Bill C-311 to be voted on Wednesday April 14 – The Climate Change Accountability Act – If you care about the Environment You can have Your Say Canada – Cornwall Ontario.

Cornwall ON – We get a lot of emails and calls here at The Cornwall Free News and this Wednesday a vote is taking place in Parliament regarding Bill C-311 which is the The Climate Change Accountability Act.

The Harper Government is against this piece of legislation; although supported by opposition parties, a lot of activists are concerned on how solid Liberal support is so they’re asking people to contact their MP’s and other mucky muks to make sure the vote gets out.

Here is how you can help:

1. Join the Climate Action Network Canada Facebook page to take part in future events like this, if you have not done so already.

————————————————————

Hello [Mr. Ignatieff, Prime Minister Harper, Minister Prentice, Mr. McGuinty, your MP],

I am calling to urge you and your parties to support the passage of Bill C-311, entitled An Act to ensure Canada assumes its responsibilities in preventing dangerous climate change (the “Climate Change Accountability Act”) when it is voted on in the house on Wednesday April 14th.

This bill contains targets for greenhouse gas pollution reduction that are in line with what scientists tell us is needed to avoid dangerous climate change. Canada must do its fair share in the global effort to combat climate change, and protect the most vulnerable people in the world from the consequences.

Studies have shown that Canada can reach science based targets by 2020 while still growing the economy by 2% a year and creating over one million new jobs.

All parties in Canada’s parliament should work together and pass this essential piece of legislation.

I would like to see my government showing leadership on climate change, so please vote in favour of the Climate Change Accountability Act.

Thank you,

[Your name]

I’ve done my bit; I’ve sent a note to each of the gentlemen above including our Conservative MP, Mr. Guy Lauzon. I urge you to take a moment to let our government representatives know what direction you would like them to take in this very important matter. Collectively we can make an impact. Thank-you!

  2. Stan   April 11, 2010 at 12:39 PM

I’ve done my bit too and have included our MP Guy Lauzon too.
One question in my mind is that why are we being advised of this three days before the vote in Parliament?

  3. Pastor Tom Newton   April 11, 2010 at 2:01 PM

Don’t waste your time and breath trying to save this sin cursed earth – it is slated to be burned up! Not by a nuclear holocaust, or even global/climate change, but by the judgment of God –

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless” (2 Peter 3:10 – 14).

What is important? your eternal soul, which God, your Creator gave to you. One day you will have to give an account of your life – the rejection or acceptance of His Son, as Lord and Savior. It may be sooner than you think!

“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness…”

Now that’s a good question Stan. I got this news this morning and published it pronto. We work fast here at The Cornwall Free News.

  5. Furtz A Bootbomb   April 11, 2010 at 5:03 PM

I might be out of line here, but does anybody know Pastor Tom well enough to maybe convince him to get some help with his problem? He seems to be getting a little crazier with each post.

  6. Mr. Smith Goes To Ottawa   April 11, 2010 at 9:02 PM

Global warming and cooling are related to sun spot cycles and solar cycles. We’ve know this at least since 1600 AD. This is about taxation and shifting money and power around. What kind of spray bottle you use or how many logs you toss in a campfire will not influence geo-thermal reactions, volcanoes or the Van Allen belt. Did everyone burn their grade seven science books?

  7. Pastor Tom Newton   April 12, 2010 at 7:25 AM

Don’t you know Mr. Smith that environmentalism is not based upon real facts of science. The environmentalist feel that their god – Mother Earth is in danger, so they must do whatever they can to save her. Mother Earth’s religious devotees will lie, tell half truths, and even spread misinformation in order that their great goddess will survive. Mass delusion, mass hysteria, and mass propaganda!

As we take a moment to venerate environmentalism two greatest prophets – Al Gore and David Suzuki (pause – that’s enough), when and where can we find these two men ever using science as it was meant to be used? Of course I don’t have much more brains then a tree stump (according to Canada’s great prophet of doom), but here I will go back to my seventh grade science book and to the scientific rule, and disprove them all.

I can hear the religious devotees of environmentalism crying out just as some did in the book of Acts:
“So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre. But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.”

Nothing much has changed since then, just the name of the goddess – Great is Gaia – goddess of all the Earth! All you environmentalist, come, bow down and worship her. But sad to say, the environmentalist will not be content until all are made to bow with them. Just like King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden statue in Daniel 3 – see where we are heading?

  8. Pastor Tom Newton   April 12, 2010 at 7:46 AM

The Scripture reference for the above book of Acts quote is Acts 19:27-29, 34. Just in case you wanted to know.

  9. grimalot   April 12, 2010 at 9:07 AM

I can think of one reason Stan why we have only 3 days on this. Because they want to push something through fast. If not this, look for any hidden agenda’s! Bet you something else passes at the same time that they hope this will help cover up.

    Pastor Tom, David Suzuki Rules!

  10. Eco-chick   April 12, 2010 at 9:39 AM

Stan…well at least you heard the news here at Cornwall Free News. I will assume that you read and listen to other news media such as our local radio stations, TV stations and our local daily and weekly newspapers. Did they not mention anything about it?

  11. PJR   April 12, 2010 at 10:31 AM

every day Harper’s denial of reality sinks Canada deeper in the tar sands.

  12. Mr. Giggles   April 12, 2010 at 12:08 PM

Tom, the environmental movement has been split and fractured to render it useless or of use only to the big machine that wrecks the environment. This happened to the womens’ movement as well. The womens’ movement wasn’t allowed to continue until it was understood they meant only rights for white middle and upper class women. It had to be understood that they didn’t mean rights for native women or black women. Al Gore is not a science man and his crap doesn’t stand up to critique. Suzuki is lately allowing politics to cloud his rational for facts. Tom is right in that worshiping the earth is a far cry from taking care of ourselves. Bad environmental people will make it hard on the good ones, that’s their job. In Europe a large part of the green movement has been taken over by neo-nazi groups. As far as a nuclear holocaust goes…breath deep…that’s depleted uranium dust…google where that comes from. Giggle. Giggle. You got your wish, Tom. ps. Just got a postcard from Calvin, says Hobbes is giving him a hard time. I said, ‘Lock your door.”

  13. Furtz A Bootbomb   April 12, 2010 at 3:48 PM

Does anyone else see the humour in the pastor saying that someone else’s religion “is not based upon real facts of science.”?

  14. Rodney Vander Veer   April 12, 2010 at 4:02 PM

Furtz, I find humour in everything Mr Tom says. I’m not even sure where he came up with the idea that environmentalists need a god. Let’s not forget that David Suzuki is”not using science as it was meant to be used”. I wonder what science was meant to be used for? I was hoping for an explanation from his 7th grade science book, but he kind of left me hanging…what was it in grade 7 that disproves enviromentalism, I wonder?

I do agree that Al Gore is a bum, but perhaps a bum ahead of his time? He IS a rich white man who has managed to get even richer off this movement. Once other rich white men figure out how to make money off this thing it will REALLY take off.

PS Mister Tom, please keep the good stuff coming…your sense of humour really gives me something to look forward to….that Gaia joke is priceless!

  15. PJR   April 12, 2010 at 8:36 PM

Rodney, Pastor Tom is rehearsing for Just for Laughs. If you egg him on he might just make it to Broadway, or maybe Vegas.

  16. grimalot   April 13, 2010 at 12:00 AM

The Son of God was so beautiful today, did anyone get outside to enjoy it before it set in the west? I mean that’s factual, it rises every day, and sets every night. 😉

  17. Eco-chick   April 14, 2010 at 11:24 AM

Just received news from Toronto stating that the Liberal Party would be supporting the B-311 vote today. Check the news this evening.

  18. grimalot   April 14, 2010 at 12:10 PM

Stan, did you ever end up getting a reply to your message to Lauzon?

  19. Stan   April 14, 2010 at 2:29 PM

grimalot, yes, surprisingly enough, I did receive an answer from our wondrous MP Guy Lauzon.

  20. grimalot   April 15, 2010 at 11:20 AM

    And?

  21. s'mee   April 15, 2010 at 3:03 PM

    hey pastor,

Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged…

  22. Pastor Tom Newton   April 15, 2010 at 5:19 PM

S’mee: Do you know where that verse is found? And what is the rest of the verse – you may be misapplying it by not reading it in it’s context.

  23. grimalot   April 15, 2010 at 6:00 PM

Sounds like it is in perfect context and applied properly.. Unlike yourself pastor Tom, the rest of us don’t have time to constantly think or dream about the other 99% of the obscure verses in the bibles, when we could be thinking/dreaming about better things instead…

  24. Antipasta   April 16, 2010 at 8:52 AM

…and so spoke the heathen grimalot….

  25. Pal of God   April 16, 2010 at 12:25 PM

I like to hang out with JC and his Dad when they are in good humour. God sure likes to tell a joke. Just don’t get their pet lamb all riled up – its a terror.

  26. Furtz A Bootbomb   April 16, 2010 at 1:37 PM

Pal of God, Grimalot, Antipasta (I still have problems with that handle), and S’mee… According to our resident spiritual leader, his god seems to be really pissed off at most of us. Google “Kissing Hanks Ass”. It’s hilarious, and sums up the insanity pretty nicely.
