Cornwall ON – “Entrepreneurship is Art.” Founder Steve Beauchesne of Beau’s Brewery gave the key note speech at the Summer Company 2010 Awards and graduation ceremony in Cornwall Ontario Wednesday, August 25, 2010.
Beaus Brewery in Vankleek Hill Ontario is about the brightest example of Entrepreneurship in the area. The family start up now employs 36 people who share the joy of creating their award winning beers.
The joy and fulfillment of Entrepreneurship are something to enjoy during Steve’s speech which anyone who considers starting their own business should watch.

Summer Company is a Provincially funded program that allows young people a chance to start their own business.
They are funded up to $3000 and get the opportunity for mentorship and guidance as they create a business that can teach them so much more than just how to make money.

This year the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre had 15 students in the program, a record for this office. Brooke Cousins had her hands full as she and Alyssa Blais guided the future entrepreneurs through the steps to success.
MPP Jim Brownell was present for the entire event and chatted to the students as well as opening off the event.

Team Cornwall president Gilles Latour also spoke in addition to giving out the Team Cornwall award to Rebecca Runions whose company shoots video for events.

The projects were diverse, from a Smoothie truck, to hand made wooden items like pens, to farm produce, safety products, Exercise coaching, Boat washing, Pet Food cookies, hand made Jewelry, and more. The creativity was more than abundent and almost all of the students were present for the awards ceremony.

There was also an award from The Eastern Ontario Training Board presented by Martha Woods, and it was also uplifting to see so much support from within the community for the Summer Company students, many of which are at The Cornwall Farmers’ Market on Saturdays offering some of the goods for sale.
