Cornwall ON – Here is your police blotter for Cornwall Ontario and the area courtesy of the Cornwall Police and OPP.

THREATS

Cornwall, Ont. – Gaston Robert Poirier, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of December, 2010 following a threats investigation.  It is alleged that on that date, he attended a Montreal Road business and threatened the owner.  Police were contacted and as a result the male is facing 1 count of Utter Death Threats.  He was released to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cornwall, Ont. – A 69 year-old Cornwall male was arrested following a sexual assault investigation.  It is alleged that in the fall of 2009, the male sexually assaulted a tenant at his residence.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 1 count of Sexual Assault.  He was released to appear in court on the 18th of January, 2011.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

DRUGS

Cornwall, Ont. – A 15 year-old Summerstown female was arrested on the 17th of December, 2010.  Police were contacted to attend the area of Pitt and Fourth Street on that date to investigate a family dispute.   The youth’s parent had seized a quantity of drugs, believed to be marijuana, and provided it to the officer.  As a result, the youth was charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and released to appear in court on the 13th of January 2011 to answer to the charge.  Her name is not being withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – A 22 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 17th of December, 2010 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol and to Not associate with a specific female. The male was further bound by a Probation Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that on the offence date, the male was located in the company of the female and was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.  Police were contacted and as a result of the investigation, the male is facing 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance and 1 count of Breach of Probation. He was held in custody until court on the 18th of December, 2010.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – Zachary Leo Pilon, 18, of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of December, 2010 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by an Undertaking Order with conditions to Abide by the house rules and to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  He was further bound by a Probation Order with the same condition.  It is alleged that on the offence date, he had an argument with a parent for refusing to abide by the house rules.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 2 counts of Breach of Undertaking and 1 count of Breach of Probation.  He was held in custody until court the following day.

OVER .80 and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – Michael Joseph Peter Masson, 23, of Cornwall was arrested in the early hours of December 18th, 2010.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol absolutely.  It is alleged that he was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in an erratic manner which caught the attention of a member of the R.C.M.P.  The officer contacted the Cornwall Community Police Service and the male was arrested for breaching his conditions and for Failure to provide a breath sample.  The male was transported for testing which resulted in a charge of Over .80.  He is further facing 1 count of Breach of Recognizance for breaching his condition.  He was held in custody until court the following day.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred in the early hours of December 18th, 2010 at a Vincent Massey Drive business.  The suspect(s) broke into the business by throwing an article through the front glass door.  The suspect(s) stole money and sunglasses.  If you have any information about this break and enter, please contact the Service by dialing (613) 932-2110.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – Kelly Van Allen, 47, of No Fixed Address, was arrested on the 18th of December, 2010 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Not attend S. D. & G.  It is alleged that on the offence date, the male was locating operating a motor vehicle in the area of Cumberland and Second Street.  The male is facing 1 count of Breach of Recognizance and was held in custody until court.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, Ont. – Katlen Marie Moore, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on the 18th of December, 2010 for Mischief.  It is alleged that she attended a Cornwall residence and upon leaving caused damage to windows.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the female facing 1 count of Mischief Under $5,000.00.  She was released to appear in court on the 04th of January, 2011 to answer to the charge.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred sometime between December 16th and the 18th at a Prince Arthur Street garage.  The suspect(s) broke the lock off the garage door and stole a red Troy snowblower with a clear canopy.  If you have any information regarding this break and enter, please contact the Service by dialing (613) 932-2110.

DRIVE WHILE DISQUALIFIED

Cornwall, Ont. – David Benson Hopps, 47, of Akwesasne was arrested on the 19th of December, 2010.  The male was disqualified from driving and police allege that they observed him operating a motor vehicle on Brookdale Avenue.  A police check confirmed the information and he is facing 1 count of Drive while Disqualified.

TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT BY LAND & AIR

SAVE Team & Aircraft utilized

In a continuing effort to ensure safety on area roadways and trails, SD&G OPP members were assisted this past weekend (17-19Dec10) by officers from the Snowmobile, All-Terrain Vehicle and Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) Team and Aircraft Enforcement Patrol (AEP). Such use of specialty Units will continue throughout the winter season.

Over the weekend, the AEP flew over Highway 401 resulting in the following;

    • 40 speeding charges
    • 3 Stunt Driving charges (154-156 & 164km/h in 100km/h zone). In all cases as per legislation, vehicles and driver’s licenses were seized for a period of 7 days.

On December 18, 2010, at approximately 4:00pm, a SAVE Team officer on patrol had the occasion to observe 2 All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) travelling side by side at a high rate of speed on Cashion Road, South Glengarry. The ATV’s were subsequently stopped.

Joel BERNIER (32) of South Glengarry Twp and Tyler TREMBLAY (31) of South Stormont Twp are each charged with;

    • Race a Motor Vehicle

Both ATV’s were seized and impounded for a period of 7 days as per legislation and driver’s licenses seized as well. Both accused are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court March 11, 2011.

CHARGES LAID

(South Stormont) – On December 17, 2010, SD&G OPP began an investigation into a domestic incident which occurred at a residence on Island Road, South Stormont Twp. Information revealed that on December 15, 2010, an altercation took place between a 45yr old female and her spouse, resulting in the female assaulting the male.

She was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

She was released to appear in Cornwall court January 11, 2011.

On December 17, 2010, at approximately 6:45pm, OPP officers had the occasion to stop a vehicle at a R.I.D.E. checkstop at the intersection of McConnell Avenue and South Branch Road, South Stormont Twp.

The stop resulted in the seizure of small amount of suspected marihuana from inside the vehicle.

Steven TERRIAH (47) of Cornwall was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance.

He was released to appear in Cornwall court February 22, 2011.

On December 19, 2010, at approximately 11:30am, an SD&G OPP officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on County Road 15, South Stormont Twp. The stop revealed that the male driver was in breach of conditions from a previous incident and was also unlicensed.
Andrew ROCHON (25) of Morewood, was arrested and is charged with;

    • Breach of Probation (2 counts)

Drive Motor Vehicle – No License (Highway Traffic Act)

    He was released to appear in Cornwall court February 15, 2011 on the Breach charges.
