Cornwall Community Police Service’s pilot project “Seniors Information Distribution Group – January 24, 2011

Cornwall ON– The Cornwall Community Police Service’s pilot project “Seniors Information Distribution Group” was launched on Friday, December 3rd, 2010 at “Le Centre Charles-Emile-Claude”.  The purpose of the group is to distribute information on telephone scams, elder abuse issues and any other criminal matters which may affect the seniors in our community.  Since the inception of the pilot project, these seniors have at their disposal information that the Cornwall Community Police Service feels may be of value to them.  Seniors at that centre can either receive the information through an e-mail system or on their bulletin board.

In re-evaluating the validity of the pilot project, the Service feels that it has been a success and is now ready to expand to other agencies, seniors groups or any individual who would like to participate.  The Cornwall Community Police Service is encouraging factions of seniors to create e-mail groups and contact us so that they can receive this information.

Please contact Cst. Brenda MacIntosh by e-mail at macintosh.b@cornwallpolice.com or by dialing (613) 933-5000, ext. 2600.

The Cornwall Community Police Service is committed to our vision:  “A Safer Cornwall, reducing crime always”.
