DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON- A 29 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 5th of November, 2011. It is alleged that she got into an altercation with her 35 year-old boyfriend when she assaulted him. He was not injured. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was released to appear in court on the 22nd of November, 2011. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in this incident.
Cornwall, ON- A 18 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 6th of November, 2011. It is alleged that she got into an altercation with her 25 year-old bpoyfriend when she assaulted him. He was not injured. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was released to appear in court on the 22nd of November, 2011. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in this incident.
DOMESTIC MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 46 year-old man and a 46 year-old female were arrested on the 6TH of November, 2011. She was bound by a recognizance with the relevant conditions to not to communicate directly or indirectly with the male, not to attend within 500 meters of his residence, not to be away from my residence except in the company of your surety and not to consume alcohol absolutely. It is alleged that on the 6th of November, 2011 they got into an altercation when the female broke a window. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with domestic mischief, breach of probation order and 4 counts of breach of recognizance. The male was injured by the broken glass and was transported to hospital, where it is alleged that he stole property. He was charged with theft under $5000.00. They were both held in custody until court the following day.
IMPAIRED OPERATION & OVER 80
Cornwall, ON- Sean Backus, 28 of Ogdenburg NY was arrested in the early hours of the 5th of November, 2011. It is alleged that he was operating a motor vehicle on Brookdale Avenue while under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with impaired operation and was transported for further testing which resulted in a charge if over .80. He was released to appear in court on the 29th of November, 2011 to answer to the charges.
BREACHES
Cornwall, ON- Stephanie Laframboise, 40 of Cornwall was arrested on the 5th of November, 2011. She was bound by a recognizance with the condition to to abstain from the consumption of alcohol absolutely. She was also bound by a probation order to abstain from alcohol and keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 5th of November, 2011 she was observed by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division to be under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with breach of recognizance and 2 counts of breach of probation order. She was released to appear in court on the 15th of December, 2011 to answer to the charges.
Cornwall, ON- Daniel Quigley, 25 of Cornwall was arrested on the 6th of November, 2011. He was bound by a probation order with relevant condition not to consume any alcohol and keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 6th of November, 2011 he was located by members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division to be consuming alcohol. He was charged with 2 counts of breach of probation order. He was released to appear in court on the 29th of November, 2011 to answer to the charges.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Cornwall, ON- Rizwan Nawaz, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on the 5th of November, 2011. It is alleged that since the beginning of October 2011, he has been attempting to contact a 18 year-old female stranger by phone and attending her work place. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with criminal harassment and held in custody until court the following day.
BREAK & ENTER ARREST
Cornwall, ON- David McGeown, 35 of Markham was arrested on the 6th of November, 2011. It is alleged that on the 6th of November, 2011 he attempted to gain entry to two residences. He proceeded to enter a third residence when he was stopped by the home owner and police were contacted. Upon his arrest, he resisted officers. He was charged with assault police, break and enter with intent and attempt break and enter with intent. He was held in custody until court the following day.
PAROLE WARRANT
Cornwall, ON- Christopher Shawcroft, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on the 7th of November, 2011 under the strength of a parole warrant. He was bound by a statutory release with the relevant conditions of not to associate with any person you know to be involved in criminal activity or have reason to believe is involved in criminal activity, including drug users and drug traffickers. It is alleged that on the 7th of November, 2011 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop and located him in the company of someone that active in drug trafficking. He was arrested and held in custody until court the following day.
BREAK & ENTER
Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred on the 5th of November, 2011 at a Bedford Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry by breaking a rear door and proceeded to removed numerous jewellery, undisclosed amount of money and a quarter collection. THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE
Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigation a theft of a 2 door, silver, 2002 Saturn SC1 from a Gerald Street residence which occurred sometime between 10:00 pm on the 5th of November, 2011 and 8:30 am on the following day. TRAFFIC STOPS NETS DRUGS
Over $200,00.00 worth seized
(South Dundas) – On November 05, 2011, at approximately 7:15am, an SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for speeding on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. The stop resulted in officers locating and seizing approximately 21 pounds of suspected marihuana packaged in plastic bags. The value is estimated at $190,000.00. Officers also confiscated approximately one (1) kilo (in bricks) of suspected Hashish with an estimated value of $20,000.00.
The driver, Corey AMARAL (20) and passenger Monteiro ALEXANDER (20), both from Toronto ON were arrested and charged with;
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 counts)
They were released and are scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on December 06, 2011.
(North Stormont) – On November 06, 2011, at approximately 12:30am, SD&G OPP officers had the occasion to stop a vehicle at a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) checkstop on County Road 12, North Stormont Township. The stop resulted in a small quantity of suspected marihuana being seized.
Alain PITRE (30) of North Stormont was arrested and charged with;
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was released to appear in Cornwall court at a later date.
DOMESTIC ASSAULTS RESULT IN CHARGES
(North Glengarry) – On November 04, 2011, at approximately 2:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on St-George Street in the Town of Alexandria. Investigation revealed an altercation between a 27year old male and his ex-girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted. The male had also caused damage to a vehicle. Upon being arrested by officers, the male became combative and resistant.
The male (from Alexandria) is charged with;
- Assault
- Obstruct/Resist Peace officer
- Mischief
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (Bail) in Cornwall.
(North Dundas) – On November 04, 2011, at approximately 7:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 31, North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between a 43 year old female and her common law spouse resulted in the female assaulting the male by throwing beer bottles at him. Further information received indicated a similar incident had occurred the previous day.
The female (from North Dundas Twp) was arrested and is charged with;
- Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)
She was held in custody pending a court appearance (Bail) in Cornwall.
IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES
(South Stormont) – On November 04, 2011, at approximately 8:00pm, an SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for speeding on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop revealed the male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Further information indicated the male’s permit was disqualified from a previous incident
Jason HUFFMAN (39) of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township was arrested and is charged with;
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content
- Drive Disqualified
He was released and scheduled to attend Cornwall court on December 01, 2011.
(South Stormont) – On November 06, 2011, at approximately 3:00am, an SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for speeding on Highway 138, South Stormont Township. The stop revealed the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Anthony O’KURLEY (29) of Ottawa ON was arrested and is charged with;
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content
He was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on November 15, 2011.
VEHICLE SEIZED FOR EXCESSIVE SPEED
(North Glengarry) – On November 06, 2011, at approximately 10:30pm, An SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for speeding (155km/h in a 100km/h zone). The 24 year old female driver (from Ottawa) is charged with;
- Race a Motor Vehicle
She is scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on January 10, 2012. The vehicle was seized and impounded as per regulations for 7 days.
FIRE
(North Dundas) – On November 04, 2011, at approximately 5:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a house fire on Gladstone Street in the Village of Winchester. Officers conducted traffic control as firefighters extinguished the fire, which resulted in an unknown amount of structure damage.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental in nature.
