DOMESTIC ASSAULT
(South Stormont) – On February 20, 2013 at approximately 9:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to report of a domestic situation at a residence on Willbruck Drive, South Stormont Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between a male and his spouse resulted in the female being assaulted.
The 33 year old male was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) this date (21Feb13) in Cornwall.
CHARGED WITH SHOPLIFITING
(North Dundas) – On January 24, 2013, SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of shoplifting at a place of business on Main Street in the town of Winchester, North Dundas Township. On February 20, 2013, at approximately 2:30pm, officers located and arrested a female in Winchester who had been identified as a suspect.
Terry Anne COHEN (67) of North Dundas was arrested and is charged with;
– Theft Under $5000.00
She was released to appear in Morrisburg court on April 02, 2013.
DISQUALIFIED DRIVER CHARGED
(North Dundas) – On February 20, 2013 at approximately 5:15pm, SD&G OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Gladstone Street, North Dundas Township. Information revealed the male’s driving privileges were disqualified.
David MACNABB (29) of Gatineau PQ was arrested and is charged with;
– Drive Disqualified
He was released to appear in Morrisburg court on April 02, 2013.
WEATHER KEEPS OFFICERS BUSY ON ROADWAYS
(SD&G) – Mother Nature’s recent blast of adverse weather has kept SD&G OPP officers busy on area roads. Over the last few days, officers have responded to a total of 45 traffic related calls for service (Stormont-13, Dundas-10, Glengarry-22) consisting of collisions and vehicles sliding into ditches/medians. Fortunately, only a few have resulted in minor injuries.
Road conditions continue to be poor this morning as the cold and high winds have caused surfaces to be covered and icy. In some areas, visibility is limited.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution in their travels while being safety conscious of Emergency Vehicles and Tow equipment operators tending to ongoing collision scenes!!
HARASSMENT
(North Glengarry) On February 19, 2013 SD&G OPP responded to a report of harassment in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that a male had repeatedly communicated with an adult female known to him over several years.
A 54 year male from Alexandria was arrested and is charged with;
– Harassment
He was released to appear in Alexandria court on April 09, 2013.
DISTRACTED DRIVERS
(South Stormont) On February 19, 2013 at approximately 8:00am, OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) conducted distracted driver spot checks at the intersection of Highway 138 and Cornwall Centre Road. In a one (1) hour period, police charged five (5) drivers; three (3) for driving while talking on cell phones and two (2) for driving while operating handheld entertainment devices.
“This is another disturbing example that drivers continue to show disregard for safety on our roadways” comments Inspector Mike McDonell, SD&G OPP Detachment Commander. “There is absolutely no excuse for these dangerous habits. Officers will continue their focus on intercepting such drivers and enforce this legislation to reduce the risk of tragedies” he adds.
Research indicates that all forms of distracted driving may be a causal factor in 30 to 50 percent of traffic fatalities.
MAN CHARGED WITH WEAPON RELATED OFFENCES
(North Dundas) – On February 17, 2013 at approximately 7:45pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Sandy Row Road, North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between a male, his spouse and other family members resulted in the male discharging a firearm (rifle) and uttering threats to those present. No injuries resulted from the incident.
A 33 year old male from South Dundas was arrested without incident and is charged with;
– Careless use of a Firearm (4 counts)
– Point Firearm
– Utter Threats
– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall on February 21, 2013
UTTER THREATS
(North Dundas) – On February 16, 2013 at approximately 2:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 3, North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between a male and his girlfriend resulted in the male uttering threats to the female. Further investigation disclosed previous incidents had occurred also.
A 40 year old male from South Gower Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Utter Threats (3 counts)
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) this date (19Feb13) in Cornwall.
POSSESSION OF STOEN PROPERTY
(South Glengarry) – On October 29, 2012 SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of stolen property from an agricultural machine at a property on Glen Road, South Glengarry Township. Several high density lights, valued at approximately $3000.00 had been stolen from a combine.
On February 17, 2013, an SD&G OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the recovery of the stolen property.
Andy DONKERS (25) of South Glengarry was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00
He was released to appear in Alexandria court on April 3, 2013
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(South Dundas) – On February 16, 2013 at approximately 11:30pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) spot checks at the intersection of County Road 31 and Garlough Road, South Dundas Township. The driver of a vehicle checked was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Christopher GIBEAULT (42) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content
He was released to appear in Morrisburg court on March 5, 2013.
THEFT OF TRAILER
(North Stormont) – On February 17, 2013, SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a stolen snowmobile trailer. Overnight 16-17Feb13, the trailer, described as a 2003 white Easy-Ride was stolen from a property on County Road 13, North Stormont Township.
The investigation continues.
VEHICLES IMPOUNDED FOR EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers had the occasion to intercept several vehicles travelling on area roads at excessive speeds. As a result, the affected vehicles were impounded and drivers had their licences seized. All drivers will appear in court at later dates to answer to the charges.
– 15Feb13 (1:41pm), vehicle stopped on Highway 138 (South Stormont Twp) speeding 160kh/h in a posted 80km/h zone. Male driver also charged for a seatbelt violation.
– 15Feb13 (4:18pm), vehicle stopped on Highway 401 (South Stormont Twp) speeding 154km/h in a posted 100km/h zone.
– 17Feb13 (4:49pm), vehicle stopped on Highway 401 (South Stormont Twp) speeding 160km/h in a posted 100km/h zone.
– 18Feb13 (10:17am), vehicle stopped on Highway 401 (South Dundas Twp) speeding 171km/h in a posted 100km/h zone.
– 18Feb13 (5:22pm), vehicle stopped on Highway 401 (South Glengarry Twp) speeding 155km/h in a posted 100km/h zone.
– 18Feb13 (7:06pm), vehicle stopped on Highway 401 (South Glengarry Twp) speeding 157km/h in a posted 100km/h zone.

ASSAULT & BREACH
Cornwall, ON- A 36-year-old Glen Robertson man was arrested on February 18th, 2013. He was bound by a Probation Order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the February 18th, 2013 he attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and an altercation occurred when he assaulted her 36-year-old boyfriend. The victim did not require medical treatment. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Assault and Breach of Probation Order. He was released to appear in court on March 26th, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.
