Mischievous Weekend in Cornwall Ontario – Police Blotter for Monday May 26, 2014 CPS OPP OPS TPS

            Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on May 23rd, 2014 and charged with breaching her recognizance for associating with someone she has conditions not to and being where that person might be. It is alleged that on May 23rd, 2014 the woman was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the area of First Street East and McConnell in the company of the person that she has conditions not to communicate with. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the matter stems from a domestic incident and may identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

            Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested on May 23rd, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on February 17th, 2009 the woman failed to attend court for a domestic related charge and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On May 23rd, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Kanawake Peacekeepers’ station and took the woman into custody as she was being held on the strength of the warrant. She was transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the matter stems from a domestic incident and may identify the victim in the matter.

 

POSSESSION, POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 23rd, 2014 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and breach of youth probation for not abiding house rules and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 23rd, 2014 police were contacted by the youth’s father who advised that he located a quantity of marihuana. Police attended and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court at a later date.

MISCHIEF

            Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 23rd, 2014 and charged with mischief. It is alleged that on May 23rd, 2014 during an argument with his 22-year-old girlfriend he damaged a bedroom door. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it may identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT, OVERCOMING RESISTANCE (CHOKING), MISCHIEF

            Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 24th, 2014 and charged with assault, two counts of mischief and overcoming resistance (choking). It is alleged that in the early morning hours of May 24th, 2014 during an argument with his 30-year-old wife the intoxicated man pushed his wife then grabbed her by the throat. He also damaged a chair and punched a hole in the wall. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police located the man a short distance away and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall man and a 48-year-old Cornwall woman were arrested on May 24th, 2014. The man was charged with assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace while the woman was charged with breaching an undertaking for having consumed alcohol, associating with someone with who she has conditions not to and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 24th, 2014 during an argument the man struck his girlfriend on the head causing a minor injury. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police found that the woman had been drinking and had been in the company of the person which she has conditions not to associate with. Both were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for bail hearings. Their names were not released as it was a domestic matter and may identify the victim in the incident.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

            Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 25th, 2014 and charged with assault, mischief and possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that on May 25th, 2014 during an argument with his 21-year-old wife the man pushed her then damaged her cell phone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody and during this time was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marihuana. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [STORMONT DUNDAS and GLENGARRY] Impaired Driver / Break and Enter / Racing Law Infraction 2014-05-26

(North Dundas) – On 24May14, at approximately 02:45am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on River Road, North Dundas Township.

The stop revealed that the 17yr old male driver (from North Dundas) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Driving While Ability Impaired
– Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

He is scheduled to appear 05Jun14 in Cornwall court.
BREAK AND ENTER

(North Glengarry) – On 25May14, at approximately 5:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break and enter on County Road 34, North Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime between 22May14 – 25May14, unknown suspects gained entry into a residence and removed various articles of jewelry.

The investigation is ongoing.
RACING LAW INFRACTION

– 24May14 (2:15pm), SD&G OPP officer stops a westbound Mercedes on Highway 401, South Glengarry….152km/h (posted 100km/zone).

OPS

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid a number of charges in relation to two swarmings and is seeking information on additional, outstanding suspects.

On May 18, 2014, at approximately 2:20 am, a male victim was walking near Broadview/Byron when a vehicle approached him. A group of males jumped out of the vehicle and grabbed the victim, making a demand for his phone and wallet. The suspects then attempted to force the victim into the vehicle as he was also assaulted. The victim resisted and the suspects fled the scene in the vehicle. The victim was not injured.

On the same date, at approximately 3:30 am, a male victim was walking along Kirkwood near Nora Street. The victim was approached by a vehicle, at which point multiple suspects exited the vehicle, grabbed the victim, and began searching him. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim turn over his cellphone and wallet.  The suspects then attempted to force the victim into the vehicle. When another, uninvolved, vehicle approached, the suspects fled the scene. The victim was not injured.

As Police were at the scene investigating the second robbery, the suspect vehicle was observed driving by. The vehicle was recognized and also determined to have been reported stolen the previous day from a parking lot along the 400 block of Lisgar Avenue. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled, and then impacted a rock at the end of a footpath in the area, after a very brief time/distance. The suspects then all fled the vehicle on foot. Three suspects were arrested in the area by officers. An air pistol was recovered from within the vehicle. There were no injuries sustained by any of the three arrested suspects.

Three young persons, all age 17 of Ottawa, are jointly charged with the following offences:

 *       Two counts of robbery

*       Two counts of possession of weapons dangerous to the public

*       Two counts of attempted abduction

*       One count of possession of property obtained by crime

The suspects have since been released from custody and appear next in Youth court on May 23, 2014.

The Robbery Unit is still attempting to identify 2-4 remaining suspects that were able to flee the scene of the second robbery. They are described as being black males, 5’9″-5’11” (175 cm to 180 cm), approximately 16-18 years of age.

Sexual Assault Alert, Alliance Avenue & Rockcliffe Boulevard, Man wanted,

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man wanted in a Sexual Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

-on Friday, May 23, 2014, between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., a 42-year-old woman was walking in the Alliance Avenue & Rockcliffe Boulevard area.

– an unknown man approached her from behind and said he had a gun.

– he took her into the park and sexually assaulted her

– she was able to break free and escape

There is no suspect description at this time.
