            Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on June 28th, 2014 and charged with mischief and breach of two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on June 18th, 2014 while at a Guy Street residence the woman broke some property that belonged to her ex-boyfriend. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

THREATS, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 18th, 2014 and charged with two counts of threats and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that within the past three weeks the man threatened to burn the blanket his 52-year-old wife covered herself with and on a separate occasion threatened to throw her into the river. Police were contacted to attend the Montcalm Court residence and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 19th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of June 19th, 2014 while arguing with his 24-year-old wife the intoxicated man punched her in the face. Police were contacted to attend the Montreal Road address and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

Ottawa Police Service:

Police Officers and Paramedics injured at joint training exercise this morning

(Ottawa)— This morning, three members of the Ottawa Paramedic Service and two members of the Ottawa Police Service were injured during a joint training exercise on March Rd. Participants, including members of the RCMP, were conducting entry training using energetic materials and a controlled explosion when the injuries occurred.

The Ottawa Police officers suffered minor injuries. Of the three Ottawa Paramedics injured two sustained serious injuries and one sustained minor injuries.

Ottawa Paramedics regularly train with Ottawa Police Tactical members.

The Ministry of Labour will be investigating along with OPS District Investigators.

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has been advised of the incident and has invoked its mandate. As such, further questions should be directed to the SIU.
