Cornwall Ontario Regional Police Blotter for August 1, 2014 CPS OPP

DparkinsonASSAULT   Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 31st, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on July 31st, 2014 during an argument with his 39-year-old girlfriend the man punched her in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH, ASSAULT   Cornwall, ON – Shawna Mitchell, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on July 31st, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000, assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on June 12th, 2014 the woman attended a retail store on Brookdale Avenue and removed razors making no attempts to pay for them as she left the store. The woman was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer at which time she pushed him and fled the scene. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 31st, 2014 the woman was spotted walking in the area of Lawrence Street and First Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH Cornwall, On – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on August 1st, 2014 and charged with breaching his probation and recognizance for being out past curfew and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that police were contacted in the early morning hours of August 1st, 2014 as the youth did not return home prior to curfew. The youth was located near his residence and taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal justice Act.

ASSAULT

(North Glengarry) – On July 30th, 2014 at approximately 12:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault incident at a property on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between two (2) adult males resulted in one assaulting the other. Further information revealed the accused was in contravention of a condition imposed from a previous incident.

On July 31st, 2014, Roch RICHER (52) of North Glengarry was arrested and charged with;

– Assault – Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Alexandria on September 3rd, 2014.

BREACH

(North Dundas) – On July 31st, 2014 at approximately 9:00pm SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at a property on Queen Street in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had breached a condition imposed from a previous incident by contacting his ex-spouse.

The 43 year old male (from South Dundas) was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall on September 9th, 2014.

SPEEDER INTERCEPTED

(South Glengarry) – On July 31st, 2014 at approximately 8:45pm, an SD&G OPP officer conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township intercepted a vehicle travelling at 166km/h (100km/h zone).

The 25 year old male driver from Oshweken, Ontario was charged accordingly. As per legislation, the involved vehicle and driver’s permit were seized for 7 days.
