(MISSISSIPPI MILLS, ON) – The Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a man in relation to a Break and Enter from November 2014.

On November 18, 2014 at approximately 1:50 am the OPP received a report of a Break and Enter to a residence on Wellington Street in Almonte.  A residence was entered by the suspect who was observed by one of the occupants.  The suspect left the residence and nothing was taken.

As a result of the investigation by the Lanark County Crime Unit, Daniel WOOLDRIDGE age 30 of Mississippi Mills has been arrested and charged with Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.  WOOLDRIDGE was held for a bail hearing on the July 23, 2015 in Perth Court.

UPDATE :

CHARGES LAID IN FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(North Dundas) – On February 24, 2015 at approximately 9:05am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a two (2) motor vehicle collision on County Road 7, North Dundas Township.   A 2015 BMW Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), driven by Peter REMILLARD (62) of South Dundas Township was northbound on County Road 7 and a 2010 Dodge SUV, driven by a 40-year-old woman from North Dundas Township was southbound. For reasons under investigation, the vehicles collided head-on. Both drivers (lone occupants) were transported to hospital where REMILLARD was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained while the female driver of the Dodge suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.    The OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators and SD&G OPP officers have concluded their investigation and have charged the driver of the Dodge SUV, Catriona KIRKWOOD (40) of North Dundas Township.   KIRKWOOD is charged with;   – Careless Driving (Highway Traffic Act)     She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 18, 2015.

 

BREAK IN

 

(North Dundas) – On July 21, 2015 at approximately 4:06pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded a report break-in at a residence on Van Camp Road, North Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that sometime between 2:30pm- 3:30pm on July 21, 2015 culprit(s) forcibly entered the home and removed a HP laptop computer.

An investigation continues.

(South Stormont) – On July 23, 2015 at approximately 5:47am SD&G OPP officers responded a report break-in at a residence on Daisy Street, South Stormont Township.  Investigation indicated that sometime between 10:00pm July 22, 2015 5:30am July 23, 2015 culprit(s) forcibly entered a shed and removed a Cub Cadet Snow Blower.

An investigation continues.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(North Stormont) – On July 21, 2015 at approximately 9:03pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Centennial Drive, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his ex-girlfriend resulted in the male assaulting the female on an earlier date.  The male also continually contacted the female following the assault.

The 38-year-old male from North Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

– Criminal Harassment

– Harassing Communications

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 15, 2015.

The name of the accused person in the above incidents is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(South Glengarry) – On July 22, 2015 at approximately 5:24pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Tyotown Road, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Michael DESCHAMBAULT (25) of North Stormont Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on August 5, 2015.

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(South Glengarry) – On July 20, 2015 at approximately 6:19pm Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that an adult female was in contravention of conditions (Remain within the Province of Alberta) imposed from a previous incident.

Wendy LARAME-MICHEL (25) of Laval, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Probation Order

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on September 2, 2015.

 

BOATS RECOVERED
(South Glengarry) – On July 20, 2015 at approximately 6:55pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of three Boats being recovered which were previously stolen from a property on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township.  Investigation indicated that a 14 foot “Mariner” Fishing Boat, a Duck boat and a 2001 “LOWE LV1256 were located and returned to the owners.

An Investigation continues.

(Kemptville, ON.) – Between July 13th and July 19th, the Kemptville Office of North Grenville Ontario Provincial Police investigated 89 general occurrences: 22 Kemptville, 50 Municipality of North Grenville, 9 Village of Merrickville – Wolford and 8 on Highway 416.

On the evening of July 14th, police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver northbound on Highway 416. A short time later, the black Chrysler 200 was located on Water Street in Oxford Mills. The investigation resulted in a search of the vehicle and the seizure of cocaine, marijuana and open liquor. Shane Michael Binks, age 26 of Ottawa was charged with possession of marijuana – under 30 grams, possession of cocaine, careless driving and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor. The passenger, Daphne Hamelin, age 19 of Ottawa was charged with possession of marijuana – under 30 grams and possession of cocaine.

On the evening of July 18th, police were conducting a R.I.D.E. program at Highway 416 and County Road 43. A  Dodge Caliber approached the R.I.D.E. and the officer could detect a smell of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. The driver registered a “fail” on the roadside screening device and was arrested and transported to Kemptville OPP detachment for an intoxilyzer test. Donald George Bartlett, age 48 of Kemptville was charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol.

Sometime during the evening of July 18th and July 19th, culprit(s) broke into an unlocked vehicle parked at a residence on Bridge Street and stole personal documents and cash. A second unlocked vehicle was entered on Joseph Street and a purse was stolen. Police are once again reminding the public to keep their vehicles locked at all times and their valuables in a safe place.

 

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS

(EMBRUN, ON) –In the week of July 6, 2015 to July 13, 2015, the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 296 occurrences.  Among those occurrences OPP responded to 11 collisions, 5 thefts, 13 domestics and 1 impaired related occurrence.

As a result of those occurrences, 20 people were charged with various offences.

Domestic Dispute

One male was charged with three criminal charges, assault, mischief under, and unlawfully in a dwelling house.  He will not be identified to protect the identity of the victim.

Care or Control

On Sunday July 12, 2015, at approximately 9:26pm, OPP officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint near the Village of Casselman.  The vehicle was located in the Nation Municipality and the male driver had been drinking.  After a breath test at the OPP Detachment Francois MORIN was charged with adult care or control while impaired (alcohol and drug), adult care or control over 80 mgs, adult dangerous operation of motor vehicle and adult possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine.   He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on July 29.  Provincial Constable K. Davis is the investigator.

Fires

On Sunday July 12, 2015, at approximately 07:24am, OPP officers responded to the intersection of Baseline Road at Du Lac Road in the City of Clarence-Rockland in regards to several bales of hay that had been set on fire.  The OPP is seeking help from the public and anyone who may have any information on this crime is asked to contact OPP Constable Tammy Barnes at the Embrun Detachment at613-443-4499 or by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On Monday July 13, 2015, at approximately 11:39pm, OPP officers responded to a fire located on Maple Grove Road in Nation Municipality for an electrical fire.  A male was digging and cut an electrical wire which ignited.  The OPP would like to remind the public to use ON1CALL at 1-800-400-2255 prior to digging.  Cables or lines are buried just below the surface and it can be dangerous.  You could be liable for restoration cost and possible legal action.

Don’t Leave Pets in Vehicles

With warmer weather here, pet owners are encouraged to leave their pets at home.  Parked cars quickly reach deadly temperatures for animals that don’t have the same ability to deal with rising temperatures that humans can withstand.  Citizens who spot a dog or an animal in a hot parked car are encouraged to report the licence plate and description of the vehicle to the store so an announcement can be made inside the store.  The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCS) has also set up a hotline to report animals in hot cars.  Call them at 310-SPCA or 310-7722 anywhere in Ontario.  For more information go to: www.nohotpets.ca.  If the animal appears to be in distress call the SPCA at 310-7722 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Thefts

Two saws were stolen from a company truck during the tractor pull in Casselman on July 4, 2015.  The saws were described to be a Stihl Chainsaw and a Stihl Quick Cut Saw.

A GPS and a small amount of change were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Sauve Terrasse St in the Village of Casselman on the evening of July 10.  The GPS was described as a Garmin Nuivi 250W.

Mischief

A window was damaged sometime between July 12 and 13, 2015, from a residence located on Laurier St in the City of Clarence-Rockland.  It’s believed that a rock which was resting near the inward broken window is the cause of the break.  Provincial Constable S. Roy is investigating.

Traffic Safety

The OPP would like to remind the public to be mindful of four way stop signs and to make full and complete stops.  Police have received several complaints regarding the intersection of Dignard St and St Pierre Road in Russell Township, where there’s a stop sign within the vicinity of a bicycle path which is utilized by many cyclists and children.  Educational and enforcement action will take place at that intersection.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Glengarry) – On July 17, 2015 at approximately 2:15pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at address on MacDonald Boulevard, North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that an adult male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.
The 45-year-old male from South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance (2 counts)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 15, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(South Stormont) – On July 18, 2015 at approximately 2:26am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on May Road, South Stormont Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.  The stop also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from the male driver

Mark HODGINS (27) of South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood
– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 25, 2015.
BREAK IN

(North Glengarry) – On July 19, 2015 at approximately 4:34pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Kenyon Concession 8, North Glengarry Township.
Investigation indicated that sometime between July 17-19, 2015 culprit(s) forcibly entered the home and removed several items (Sunglasses, laptop, assorted jewellery, cash and ammunition) .

An investigation continues.

THEFTS

(South Glengarry) – On July 19, 2015 at approximately 2:50pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of the theft of a Boat from a property on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township.  Investigation indicated that sometime between (July 14-19, 2015) a 14 foot Fishing Boat “Nordest” written on it and 4 fishing rods and a boat battery were removed from another boat

An Investigation continues.
