DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOPS/RIDE’S
(North Glengarry) – On December 23, 2015 at approximately 8:01pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) checks on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. A check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.
The male driver, Daniel GAUDREAULT (28) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on February 3, 2016.
(South Stormont) – On December 24, 2015 at approximately 9:28am, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Island Road, South Stormont Township. A check of the male driver revealed that he provided false identity to officers. Police also seized a quantity of suspected marihuana.
The driver, Daniel COOK (29) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest
– Obstruct Peace Officer
– Drive while Under Suspension (2 counts – Highway Traffic Act)
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
A female passenger, Ashley LAVIGNE (23) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 19, 2016.
(South Glengarry) – On December 25, 2015 at approximately 11:34pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting RIDE checks on County Road 20, South Glengarry Township. A check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of quantities of marihuana and methamphetamine.
The male driver, Benjamin SEGUIN (38) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on February 3, 2016.
(South Dundas) – On December 28, 2015 at approximately 1:32pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting RIDE checks on County Road 11, South Dundas Township. A check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of quantities of cocaine and amphetamine (speed). The adult male driver became resistant upon arrest.
Mitchell SCHWERDTFEGER (22) of North Dundas Township is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Resist Peace Officer
– Obstruct Peace Officer
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
IMPAIRED DRIVERS
(South Glengarry) – On December 24, 2015 at approximately 3:47am, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Tony KNIGHT (47) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Drive Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired
– Drive Motor Vehicle with More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Race a Motor Vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on January 6, 2016.
(North Dundas) – On December 24, 2015 at approximately 7:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County Road 13, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Roger BISHOP (53) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 14, 2016.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS
(South Dundas) – On December 27, 2015 at approximately 8:04am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between an adult female and her ex-spouse resulted in the female breaching conditions from a previous incident.
The 23-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking
She was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. Her name is not being released in order to protect the name of the victim.
(South Glengarry) – On December 28, 2015 at approximately 11:04pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Fallowfield Road South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted in the female breaching conditions from a previous incident.
The 45-year-old from South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Breach of Recognizance
She was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. Her name is not being released in order to protect the name of the victim.
SHOPLIFTER CHARGED
(North Glengarry) – On December 24, 2015 at approximately 3:36pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a business on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult female had been observed with non-purchased items.
Helen HELLIKER (54) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Theft Under $5000
She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on February 3, 2016.
ASSAULT/THREATS
(South Glengarry) – On December 27, 2015 at approximately 5:35pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault which occurred at a residence on Loyalist Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between two (2) adult males resulted in one assaulting and threatening the other.
Jamie MACDOUGALL (35) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
– Utter Threats
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
HIGH WINDS RELATED CALLS
(SD&G) – On December 24, 2015 – SD&G OPP officers were kept busy as strong winds resulted in several reported traffic related incidents (downed wires/trees/poles…etc) across the United Counties. Traffic disruptions and road closures resulted as crews made repairs. Officers responded to a total of 38 (Stormont-15, Dundas-12, and Glengarry-11) calls for service. No injuries resulted.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(South Dundas/Glengarry) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401, South Dundas/Glengarry Townships intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicles were impounded and the driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.
– December 23, 2015 – 10:29am (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 154km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (49) from Oshawa, Ontario charged accordingly.
– December 24, 2015 – 8:37am (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 201km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (34) from Markham, Ontario charged accordingly.
– December 24, 2015 – 8:23pm (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 151km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (37) from Markham, Ontario charged accordingly.
– December 26, 2015 – 5:02am (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 166km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (25) from Sunnyvale, California charged accordingly.
– December 26, 2015 – 8:37am (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 159km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (56) from Etobicoke, Ontario charged accordingly.
THEFT OF TIRES
(South Stormont) – Overnight (December 22-23) – four (4) “Evergreen” unmounted winter tires were removed from inside a parked vehicle at a residence on Kent Crescent, South Stormont Township.
An investigation continues.
