DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP – 5 CHARGED
(South Glengarry) – On February 8, 2016 at approximately 3:50pm, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle for speeding on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.
The male driver, Khan DINH (33), male passengers, David HOANG (27), Vuong NGUYEN (27) – all from Kitchener, Ontario and male passengers Minh DAM (31) from Cambridge, Ontario and Salinafi SHABINI (26) of Waterloo, Ontario were all arrested and each charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
All were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on April 6, 2016.
BREACH OF CONDITION
(South Stormont) – On February 9, 0216 at approximately 1:01am, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. A check of the adult male driver indicated that he was in contravention of a condition imposed (curfew) from a previous incident. He was not injured.
Tracy Jack FERGUSON (49) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance
He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
THEFTS
(South Dundas) – On February 9, 2016 at approximately 4:19am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of theft at a Service Station (Onroute) on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that the accused male had failed to pay for gas and food items. The vehicle was intercepted by police and the male arrested. Further information also revealed
the male was also involved in a theft of gas on February 8, 2015 at a Gas Station on County Road 43 in North Grenville.
Riaz IJAZ (27) of Scarborough, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Theft Under $5000 (2 counts)
He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
