Hammer Waving & Road Rage in Hawkesbury #OPP Blotter APRIL 11, 2016

SUSPENDED DRIVER CAUGHT TWICE WITHIN AN HOUR

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Sunday April 03rd, at approximately 11:40 am, while on patrol on Main Street in Hawkesbury, OPP Constable Jean-Michel Maceus intercepted a black Honda Odyssey van.  Investigation revealed that the female driver was suspended from driving and that her vehicle was not insured.

Natasha SEGUIN (37 yrs) of Hawkesbury was charged with section 53(1) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act for Driving while under suspension.

She was also charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with the following offence:

– 2(1)(a) Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The set minimum fine for driving without insurance is $5000.
She was served two summons to appear at the L’Orignal Court on May 12th 2016.

TWICE THE SAME DAY: That same day, within the hour, Constable Maceus observed SEGUIN driving the same black Honda Odyssey van on Sinclair Street in Hawkesbury.

The vehicle was subsequently intercepted and the driver Natasha SEGUIN (37 yrs) of Hawkesbury was again charged with section 53(1) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act for Driving while under suspension and with section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Since this was a second offence, the vehicle was seized and towed away.

She will again answer to this second infraction at the L’Orignal Court on May 12th.
THEFT OF RV TRAILER

(HAWKESBURY, ON) –The Hawkesbury OPP needs your help in solving a theft of a travel trailer that occurred sometime between April 2nd and April 6th 2016.

The twenty-six foot Weekend Warrior Travel Trailer, model FS2600, valued at approximately $30,000 was stolen from outside of the Golden Anchor Storage Facility on Cameron Street in Hawkesbury.

COMMERCIAL BREAK AND ENTER

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – Constable Fabrice Courtel of the Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a commercial break and enter incident that occurred sometime overnight between April 05th and April 06th at a vacant building currently under renovation on Aberdeen Street in Hawkesbury.

The investigation revealed that the culprits gained entry to the factory by forcing the rear side door of the building.  It appears that once inside, the culprits gathered the tools and equipment and loaded the stolen items in a vehicle.

More than $20,000.00 of construction tools and equipment was stolen.

The matter is still under investigation.

The Hawkesbury OPP is seeking the assistance of the public to report any information relating to individuals selling or attempting to sell professional construction tools and equipment.

ROAD RAGE – MALE CHARGED OF ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Wednesday April 06th, shortly before 9:30 pm, Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to a report of an assault as a result of road rage in Hawkesbury.

The incident started in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township when the victim passed a vehicle traveling at slow speed on County Road 17.  The slow moving vehicle speeded up and began tailgating the victim’s vehicle.  The victim pulled into the Thai Express restaurant parking lot on Tupper Street in Hawkesbury where he was then confronted by the male driver following him.  The agitated driver walked up to the victim’s vehicle holding a long hammer, and started yelling at the victim while waving the hammer in a threatening manner.  A witness contacted 911 and police arrived on scene and arrested the male driver.

40-year old Paul GIROUX of Alfred was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:

– 267(a) Assault with A Weapon

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on May 04th, 2016 in L’Orignal.


IMPAIRED DRIVER

(CHAMPLAIN, ON) – On April 09th, at midnight, Hawkesbury OPP officers, Chantal Duchesne and Alexandre Bolduc were on patrol on County Road 17 in Champlain Township when they assisted a motorist stopped on the shoulder.

Interaction with the male driver gave the officers reason to believe that he had operated his motor vehicle with blood alcohol content over 80 mgs.

Consequently, the driver, Joshua KIRKEY (29 yrs) of Hawkesbury, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

– 253(1)(a) Care or Control While Impaired (Alcohol)

– 253(1)(b) Care or Control Over 80 mgs.

Investigation also revealed that the driver was in possession of Cannabis Marihuana.  He was consequently charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following section:

– 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams

The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on May 04th, 2016 in L’Orignal.
