Charges laid following shooting and stabbing at Dalhousie and Rideau streets
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit has charged one adult and two youths after a shooting and a stabbing on Saturday June 25, 2016.
Patrol officers were called to the area of Dalhousie and Rideau at 2:50am and located three male victims with non life-threatening injuries. Two were transported to a local hospital and one refused medical treatment. One of the males had been stabbed in the abdomen the others had been shot.
At the scene, one of the responding officers observed a suspect pass off a firearm to another. A loaded firearm was subsequently seized and five suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.
As a result, Muhammed KABEYA, an 18 year old male from Ottawa, was charged with a drug-related offence. He was released on a Promise to appear.
A 14 year old female, from Gatineau, was charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing Not Authorized, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime and Accessory after the fact. She was released on a Promise to appear.
A 17 year old male, of Ottawa, was charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing Not Authorized, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime, two counts of Breach of Recognizance and Accessory after the fact. He was held for a show cause.
The other two persons arrested were released without charges.
