IMPAIRED DRIVERS-DRUGS SEIZED
(South Glengarry) – On December 16, 2016 at approximately 5:17pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Barclay RIGGS (44) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired
– Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 11, 2017.
(South Glengarry) – On December 17, 2016 at approximately 9:34pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) spot-checks on County Road 34 in the Village of Green Valley, South Glengarry Township. The check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected marihuana and methamphetamines. The male driver was also under the influence of alcohol.
Alain MENARD (43) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired
– Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 11, 2017.
(North Stormont) – On December 16, 2016 at approximately 4:04pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 138, North Stormont Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from a female passenger.
Shanika CLARKE (26) of Toronto, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 14, 2017.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(South Stormont) – On December 16, 2016 at approximately 5:58pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in the Village of Long Sault, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his spouse resulted in the female being assaulted.
The 34-year-old male was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault-Spousal
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on January 10, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
BREAK-INS
(South Stormont) – Between December 5-16, 2016, a garage at a property on Highway 138, South Stormont Township was entered. Inside, a quantity of light fixtures and a water softener were stolen.
An investigation continues.
(North Dundas) – Between December 1-16, 2016, a shed at a property on Development Road, North Dundas Township was entered. Inside, an Artic Cat All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was stolen.
