#OPP Charge Ottawa Man in Strange 1000 Islands Incident JULY 13, 2017

(LEEDS, ON.) –   Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into an incident where a civilian was assaulted.

On the 12th of July 2017 at about 8:50 PM O.P.P officers were called to the 1000 Islands Parkway in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township to investigate a male who had been impeding traffic.  A concerned citizen had stopped to assist the male when he became assaultive towards the citizen. The male then jumped on the citizen’s vehicle causing considerable damage before trying to get inside while the citizen made an attempt to leave. When police arrived an officer was also assaulted when placing the male under arrest.

44 year old Bruce Edward MUNDY of Ottawa faces charges of Mischief Over $5000, Assault, Resist Peace Officer, Assault Police Officer and Fail to comply with a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was held for bail hearing on the 13th of July 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville.

The investigation continues.
