(LEEDS, ON.) – Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Brockville Police stopped an impaired driver after a traffic complaint.
On the 7 October 2017 at about 11:50 AM Leeds O.P.P officers were advised of a driver sleeping near the tracks at Sharpe’s Lane in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township. The driver had left that location when awoken and was then involved in a two vehicle collision at Second Concession Road at Sharpe’s Lane. The driver fled on foot where he was apprehended with the assistance of an off duty Brockville Police Service Officer.
36 year old Travis BAX of Brockville is scheduled to answer to his Impaired Driving and Having over 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood charges at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Division, Brockville on October 20, 2017. He also faces numerous Highway Traffic Act charges including Failing to Remain at The Scene of Accident, Using Plates not Authorized for the Vehicle, and for Driving While under Suspension.
A 58 year old female Augusta Township resident who was the driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital in Brockville where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
