(LEEDS, ON.) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into a slow driver on Highway 401.
On December 6, 2017 at about 8:10 P.M. Ontario Provincial Police officers in Leeds County were advised by numerous citizens of an eastbound vehicle travelling at 40 km/hr on Highway 401 in Front of Yonge Township. Reports were that the driver was driving in the fast lane with its high beams on.
Leeds O.P.P officers located the vehicle and made several attempts to get the driver to pull safely onto the right shoulder. After some precarious attempts, officers had to make a tandem stop with a cruiser in the front and rear of the vehicle to safely assist movement off the highway.
The driver who believed the speed limit to be 50 kilometers per hour was issued offence notices for her actions.
A 47 year old female from the Ottawa area was issued provincial offence notices for Unnecessarily Slow Driving, Failing to Obey Signs and Failing to Surrender An Insurance Card.
There were no reported collisions as a result of this incident.
