MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING SCHOOL BUS
(CHAMPLAIN TOWNSHIP) – On Wednesday September 19, 2018 at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Prescott-Russell Paramedic Service, and the Champlain Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus, on Highway 34, south of Pleasant Corner Road in Champlain Township.

The collision involved four (4) motor vehicles including a tractor trailer and a school bus with children on-board. Four (4) students were transported by ambulance to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while other students were taken as precautionary measure. The school bus driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Ottawa. Occupants of other vehicles involved did not sustain injuries.
Highway 34 is currently closed to traffic and detours are in effect.
Victim Services of Prescott-Russell attended the hospital to provide assistance and support to parents and students.
The investigation is in the preliminary stages and an update will be issued when accurate and confirmed information becomes available.
