SD&G OPP NEWS
(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 263 calls for service from Tuesday March 31, 2020 to Monday April 6, 2020.
Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:
DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP
(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On April 2, 2020 at approximately 1:52am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on County Road 31, North Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. A check of the driver revealed that the driver’s driving privileges were disqualified stemming from previous driving related offences.
The driver, Jordan COOPER ( age 26) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Operation while prohibited
– Driving under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
– Operate motor vehicle without insurance (CAIA)
-Use plate not authorized for vehicle (HTA)
– Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner (HTA)
– Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available (LLA)
– Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available (CCA)
The driver was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg June 2, 2020.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(SOUTH DUNDAS, ON) – On April 2, 2020 at approximately 7:45 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 31, South Dundas Township.
Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of a drug.
Stephen HONDERS (age 37) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Operation while Impaired – Drugs
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice on June 2, 2020 in Morrisburg.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On April 3, 2020 at approximately 5:54 a.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a single vehicle collision on William Street in South Glengarry Township.
Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Gabriel GAUDREAULT (age 23) of Lasalle, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Operation while Impaired – alcohol
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration – plus 80
– Contravene licence condition – driving ability – HTA
– Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis in open baggage – CCA
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice on June 3, 2020 in Alexandria.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS – Domestic
(SOUTH DUNDAS, ON) On April 4, 2020 at approximately 7:54 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of an accused breaching conditions in South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused was breaching previous release conditions.
A 24-year-old accused of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Fail to comply with conditions of an Undertaking
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall June 9, 2020.
STOLEN SUV
(SOUTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On April 5, 2020 at approximately 3:22 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a SUV from a residence on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that sometime overnight April 4, 2020 a 2019 White Toyota Highlander (plated- Ontario -CKJT 880) was removed from the property.
An investigation continues.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – On March 31, 2020 – April 5, 2020 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and their driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
– March 31, 2020- 9:48am (South Stormont) vehicle stopped traveling 155km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 40 year old driver from Oshawa, Ontario.
– March 31, 2020- 8:41pm (South Stormont) vehicle stopped traveling 166km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 20 year old driver from South Dundas, Ontario.
– April 1, 2020- 4:21 pm (South Dundas) vehicle stopped traveling 164km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 23 year old driver from Montreal, Quebec.
– April 1, 2020- 8:31 pm (North Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 143km/h (80km/h zone) (County Road 20) – 24 year old driver from North Glengarry, Ontario. Driver also charged drive under suspension (HTA).
– April 3, 2020- 4:21 pm (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped traveling 155km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – driver from Ontario.
– April 4, 2020- 7:40 pm (South Dundas) vehicle stopped traveling 154km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 43 year old driver from Point-Aux- Trembles, Quebec.
-April 5, 2020- 8:41pm (South Stormont) vehicle stopped traveling 159km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 33 year old driver from Toronto, Ontario.
