Ottawa Man Charged in Fentanyl & Oxy OPP Bust in Cornwall Ontario

NOVEMBER 17, 2022 – The Stormont Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual with possession of illegal drugs. 

On November 16, 2022, the SD&G Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed several warrants at three residences in Cornwall, Ontario. One individual was arrested for possession of suspected fentanyl and oxycodone pills.

The SD&G Crime Unit, Provincial weapon enforcement unit (PWEU), Emergency response team (ERT) and the Cornwall Police Service Street Crime Unit, also assisted with the investigation.

Joseph KIIRYA, aged 19, of Ottawa Ontario, was charge with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act sec 5(2) – two counts
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court, Criminal Code (CC) sec 145(5)(a)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, CC sec 92(2)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada, CC sec 354(1)(a)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall at a later date.
