OPP CHARGE DRIVER AFTER PORTA-POTTIES FALL OFF TRUCK
(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ottawa Detachment have charged the driver of a truck which lost its load of portable toilets on Highway 417 eastbound near Moodie Drive Wednesday afternoon.
On June 21, 2017 at approximately 2:45 pm, OPP were notified that 3 portable toilets had fallen off of a flat-bed truck travelling eastbound on Highway 417 in Ottawa.
The toilets came to rest on the bus lane shoulder and had little impact on traffic flow in the area.
Further investigation revealed that the porta-potties were improperly secured to the deck of the flatbed truck. As a result, the driver 43 year old Roy SWABY of Ottawa has been charged with Insecure Load contrary to the Highway Traffic Act section 111(2).
There were no concerns environmentally as the toilets were clean at the time of the incident.
