Mission Statement

CFN is an online newspaper whose Mission is to give voice to the many who’d never have an opportunity to have a voice whether via op-ed, letters, or comments on stories.

In these days of spoon fed values and massive societal conformity for people to think about issues and not just follow the pack.   Whether it be questioning why decisions are made or confronting people and holding them accountable; CFN’s vision is to help empower people while educating and entertaining.

The news can be a living thing.   And one newspaper can be very different than others.   We also want to create a haven to attract the most talented people in the Universe where they can excel and gain from their talents, voices, and artistry with less restrictions, not more.

CFN is not just “the news”  It’s people’s views.  It’s what they are passionate about.   It’s about showing the world what they can do or what they’ve done.

You recently wrote an article about Landon who won the trip to Disney! He is my nephew and I just wanted to say thank you for not only doing a great article and interview but thank you for recording it and posting it. I wasnt able to be there for the reveal but your video was the next best thing!! It means a lot to my family and I.We will cherish this memory forever. Thanks again!!

  2. What the hell is wrong with our Cornwall city police force. They are rude arregent don’t care about the public and when you go see them for help its just the run around. This is unaccdeptable service and PR

  3. Hi I would just like to say there is way too much closed door meetings. What is the city hidding with all the closed door meetings. We do need a new mayor that will let the people know what is going on instead of all the secrets we have now

  4. The stupid thing about closed meetings is that they could be happenin more often. I happened to find the rules for them one time and council could go into closed meetings to discuss purchasing light bulbs, if they chose to do so.

Folks this is the wrong section for your comments. Please post in the story or category page where the discussion is occurring. Thanks!

  6. Hi Jamie…I don’t usually comment on all the BS that goes on in our corrupt little city but I have seen that name Kevin Dockery splashed in your NEWSPAPER (not blog) and I would like to run something by you. Next time that idiot Dockery has a comment for you ask him why he lost his job at Prince/Olymel foods? A little birdie tells me that it’s because of {MODERATED} So with that said if anyone believes a word that comes out of that liar’s mouth than they are just as ignorant as Dockery is.

    Take care.

  7. Both my husband and I wished to vote, but only one of us is allowed. You are missing a pile of votes using this method.

Claire our polls go by IP numbers. If you only have one internet account in your home you can only vote once.

  9. Your Newspaper is looking sharp lately , comment section has even out well now.

  10. This online newspaper gets more beautiful every time I see it.

    Maybe it’s magic…

Or maybe it’s just Maybeline 😀

  11. As a tax paying citizen. I have a large issue with the Cornwall Beerfest being moved and allowed to be hosted at Lamoureux park. How is it an event that is 100% for profit that has been moved from the Nav Centre due to an incredibly bad business deal on the organizers part now been moved to city land with a city councilor (Towndale) as the sponsorship co-ordinator who also stands to make money off of the event.

There are some huge issues here. I am a fan of the event. But something incredibly fishy is going on here. Would love to see you investigate.

  12. While I disagree with the current change to the comment section I will none the less continue to visit from time to time.

  13. 14. I have read some of your articles about the Cornwall Nationals and Rodney Rivette. I can understand you have a problem with Mr. Rivette but if I could please ask you to not talk poorly about our hockey team. There are 20 guys on this team who have dedicated there lives to play hockey and they give it everything they have representing this city as professional hockey players. They are all great in the community and with the fans taking time to sign autographs after every game. Besides the fact that these young men represent this city so respectfully they are also a damn good hockey team. Far and away the best team in the league as they have been in first place all season with only 1 loss on home ice. They also have great superstar players such as Ahmed Mahfouz and Maxime Guyon who are very exciting to watch. This brand of hockey is very exciting and free flowing like a style of hockey from back in the golden age. So, please sir I ask if you would not talk ill of this hockey team because although you may not respect the management, the players have nothing to do with these people they are just trying to live out childhood dreams and win this city a championship. All the best.

Mike we allowed your comment even though you didn’t post your last name. Again, our article was fair and accurate. Sometimes the truth hurts. Those 20 guys should be focusing clearly on Mr. Rivette and his management team. Trashing your largest media partner for example is usually grounds for firing. Not paying your bills is not a recipe for success. If the attendance is down this season perhaps it’s because the team lost over 1.5 million human page views monthly in exposure which amounted to nearly 3 million lost banner impressions. That sells seats.

This newspaper has stood by many hockey teams in their various forms of management here in Cornwall and Akwesasne. And done so at extremely discounted and near free rates that no other media has offered in support of hockey in this community.

Perhaps its time for your team of 20 guys to send these types of messages to Mr. Rivette instead of here?

We’re here to support hockey and always will. We just expect deals to be honoured and respect given for the efforts we contribute. Last season for example, because Mr. Rivette was crying the blues, the entire season package cost the team 4 season tickets, a rink board (which we never got) and a team jersey with my name and number on it. The jersey was received at the end of the season with no name and number and was a cheap replica jersey instead of a real hockey jersey. Add in Shannon’s odd post and it was gross disrespect to a partner, and a much needed one.

I’m sure you can understand that, and I’m sure all 20 guys in the dressing room get that too.

Right now there’s only one person responsible for the mess that the Nationals are facing, and that is Rodney Rivette.

  16. Perhaps its time that the CFN……prints the true story on the fake news printed in the SF and other Seaway News …. both have showed their inept fortitude of sticking together with the old girls and boys club of Cornwall who have repeatedly showed their names in print and must be a commended on their brashness or stupidity….the days of looking down ones nose are over…its time that you make way for the future … the joke at City Hall (knights of the round table) on Monday night……..completely ignored the future of the museum with the stand made on the side of the pompous and righteous dissenters. We stand to lose the Museum….like the Capital Theatre and Inverarden House….

Ron maybe you and others should’ve been supporting us while the bad guys (and girls) were trying to run me out of town and try and frame me into prison? 🙂

It’s never too late though for good people to find common ground and build a better community.

It is an election year after all.

  19. How come there is no more Cornwall Obits on line

  20. Author

Roger because the local businesses don’t sponsor it and we don’t get enough viewer support for them. When we do we’re always there to support people.

  21. What is the hold up with Brookdale Ave. It’s our busiest road artery in Cornwall. Are they waiting for a major accident to happen. This city is a joke. ! We are so behind compare to other communities no attraction to draw tourist.
