The Bridge is open and traffic is flowing again. The issues haven’t really been dealt with and the bridge isn’t really built to have a lot of traffic sit on in on a steady basis which is what can happen if there’s more traffic than the temporary station can handle.
The Harper Government was forced to erect the temporary customs station at the foot of the bridge to Cornwall after receiving word from the US Government that they would no longer block entry via their border into Canada. NY State Troopers would no longer stop traffic into Canada.
Ms Clinton, besides being Secretary of State in the US government was also a NY State Senator and has visited this area before and is familiar with this crossing.
As a resident of Cornwall I am thankful to Ms Clinton for resolving; at least temporarily, this crisis. As a Canadian I’m very sad that my government failed us, and hope that a few lessons have been learned and steps can be taken to resolve this in good faith.
