Royal Visit to Cornwall Ontario – Roller Derby Queen Georgia W Tush talks with Local League Founders – September 5, 2011

Cornwall ON – Royalty visited Cornwall Ontario; Roller Derby royalty as Georgia W Tush skated into the River City to meet and chat with Chloé Bessette and Penny Rudderham; two of the founders of the new Women’s Roller Derby league forming in Cornwall Ontario.

By day Georgia is Alyssa Kwasny, owner of Neon Skates in Montreal; but she lives to get in gear and Derby, which she does travelling all over Canada and the US.

She met at Peppermills in the Best Western  PLUS  Parkway Inn & Conference Centre to talk about the upcoming trip that some of the local derby girls will be making to her store to suit up and the upcoming training sessions that will begin in the Cornwall area as soon as practice facilities are nailed down.

The Cornwall group will be meeting at Lola’s Thursday September 15th at 8PM.   It will be the third meeting for the group who are riding a wave of excitement after growing from 4 to 17 members from their first to second meetings.    They also now have more than 100 members on their Facebook page.   All are welcome at the next meeting.
