Cornwall Ontario – The River Kings have added more depth to their blueline. And it’s a familiar face to local hockey fans.
Mathieu Raby has come to terms with the River Kings.
The former Cornwall Comet adds plenty of size and toughness to the Kings defence. Raby last played with the Akwesasne Warriors of the FHL in 2011-12. He had 94 penalty minutes in 15 games.
The 38-year-old, who played in the LNAH from 2004-2008, was a draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1993. In 40 games with the St. Jean Chiefs in 2007-08, Raby had 10 assists and 194 penalty minutes.
Raby, who turned professional in 1995, brings plenty of experience to Cornwall. He’s played in many pro leagues, including the AHL and ECHL.
Cornwall hits the road Friday night for a contest in Saint-Georges. The River Kings finally have their home opener on Saturday night when the defending champion Jonquiere Marquis visit the Civic Complex. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
