CFN is reviewing and rating local candidates this election instead of endorsing.
Our next candidates for review are Mary Ann Hug, Greg Kielec, Tammy Hart, Cindy Woods, and Ray Beauregard.
I can’t hide the fact that I am a fan of Mary Ann Hug. And no, she’s never advertised with CFN. She has that East Coast warmth and realness to her. She probably would never be the best candidate but I have a hunch that she knows the difference between truth and spin and isn’t afraid to get dirty and stand up for real issues.
How many politicians can you say that about? She was on the last council after one of the team passed away and missed out by a hair (probably because she didnt’ advertise on CFN 🙂 ) in the last election.
The challenge for her; like many of those running is whether her message penetrates voters and if it is enough to finish in the top 10.

It’s tough for me to rate Greg Kielec. He and I worked on uncovering some of the biggest city scandals until he was dumped by Le Journal de Cornwall. After that we drifted. Sadly CFN, because of the Kilger boycott could not hire Mr. Kielec, but oddly enough during this time since his termination he has chosen to support some strange causes like Deputy Mayor Tammy Hart in South Stormont.
I find that Greg focuses a lot on issues that people have no impact on like the Middle East yet pulls back from tackling real issues here in Cornwall. Of course I don’t have a wife and two children to support in Cornwall either so maybe that’s understandable; but it does give a pause of concern about how he will make decisions if elected?
And part of being a person of principle is taking the heat from folk when they don’t agree with you.

South Stormont Deputy Mayor Tammy Hart has really burned up enough space on CFN. People by now know about her dings by the Integrity commissioner. They know that she’s not a team player. They know that if council votes 4-1 against her that she will run the media and on occasion leak internal in camera documents.
We all know that she hates local business and health clinics. She also is anti-French. She’s like a yappy little dog that won’t shut up until she has a bone in her mouth and frankly that’s not always the best person to represent the public.
There are politicians dreading winning in South Stormont if she gets re-elected. She has a loyal following; but many aren’t from South Stormont. Loyalty is not her strong suit and over time she’s lost a lot of support. The question is if she still has enough to win on Monday?
Tammy Hart’s Most Productive Moment in Council during the last term.

Cindy Woods has run a very quiet campaign as the Anti-Tammy. Where the current Deputy Mayor is coarse, harsh, brash, and loud Ms Woods seems to have run a campaign that focuses on dignity and professionalism.
The big question is whether the voters get that or simply have missed her focus?
The common rule when trying to unseat an incumbent is that you have to beat them. If you are depending on voters just wanting to dump someone that can be a slippery slope especially if there is another candidate as there is in this case with Ray Beauregard.

Ray Beauregard has had a very very quiet campaign. He hasn’t said much although when he has spoken he’s done it well. He may benefit from the male voter deciding to pass on Tammy & Cindy or he may simply not have given enough for voters to chew on?

I was glad that JG covered the presentations of the candidates for South Stormont.
One thing that was clear was, there is a clique of Hart, Currier and Prendergast. When candidates like Waldrof and Coffey spoke, the trio heckled and disrupted the speech.
Then when Prendergast spoke, like the true Regressive Conservative he is, he spoke of HIS tax burden. That as a business person he paid 50% of his income to TAXES. Typical Conservative…ME,ME, I, I, I. %50% tax…..get a new accountant dude. Don’t want him , Hart and Currier running this Township. that’s for sure.
